Hiya bunch.

Can someone who can see the [presumably runic] symbols preceding each action in the list post a screenshot?

I've been reading about installing the relevant font, and I don't have the patience to muddle through it at the moment. Thank you!

edit:
Meant to say also that this thread is a super cool idea! I'm just muddle-headed at the moment.

Not in, but I want to see what happens

1-15 Shield Reflect

dtgreene: Not in for the prize, but I will play for fun with an unusual strategy:

1-15: Prayer to Odin

(Notice that I'm not even trying to attack here.)
Not in but:
1-15: Stab dtgreene with his own spear whilst he kneels praying :o)

Just been watching that Last Kingdom BBC series, its ok, but there is one part which is relevant and funny. Ubba (Dane) is speaking to a priest who explains the saint who was shot with arrows and still lived and then was clubbed to death. Ubba then commands his troops to shoot arrows into the priest, wanders over and states:
"Are the arrows sufficient, or would you like the clubbing as well"
Had me in stitches.

1-15 Shield Reflect
Hehe, that was my second idea but I decided to stick with a combo of different actions.

Yeah, that was quite funny. When they sent the Danish priest / shaman guy back to his lord naked with a branch up his arse was quite funny too XD
Haven't watched the rest of the series though, just the first two episodes (all the humping wasn't really conducive to watching while living in a house with your parents-in-law who might walk in at any moment...)

I'm seeing a little lightning bolt, not sure if anyone else gets anything different...

Like adaliabooks said, it's a lightning bolt I found on the net. Apparently, it's a unicode character called High Voltage Sign, see here (the Native one is the one I used).

EDIT: Attached an image, in case the link won't work for you.

That link is useful, thanks. The screenshot, too. I was able to see the symbol, but the native version wasn't working.

I read Raidō in your riddle and started making bad assumptions.

Well, Raidō is relevant to the riddle, so in that context wouldn't be an off assumption ;) I could have used a runic symbol instead of the lightning bolt for consistency, right. Still fits somewhat thematically, I guess; just had the bolt lying around from past usage.

Vythonaut: Also, i just listened to the official soundtrack and The March of the Draugr is one hell of a track! :)
The OST is incredible, and the sound designer did an incredible job on the effects as well. Here is a video about the audio production from Volgarr kickstarter days. Makes you love the game even more. I mean, to go with an orchestral soundtrack for a sidescroller, that just makes me happy :)

Oh, I didn't know that series existed, thanks! Sounds worth checking out, I'll make a mental note to look into it :) And: not sure about Odin's view about backstabbery of his followers, haha.

If you're interested in Viking themed stuff (as you presumably are) there's an ITV series just started as well about Beowulf which seems quite interesting. Not sure if or how you might get it where ever you are but it might be worth catching if you can :)

Yeah, I was thinking the more people who just use strategies like that the harder it will be for the rest of us to actually kill the monster (as you said his HP will scale with the number of players).
Though at least the deflect shield tactic does some damage...

Cool, wasn't aware of that either - cheers! As far as Beowulf adaptations for the screen go, I can wholeheartedly recommend this 2005 movie: Beowulf & Grendel. While there is fighting action, it emphasizes on the tragedy in this classic, with lots of atmospheric space and fine acting.

Yeah, while Shield Reflect does damage, it only does so if you are hit that step. So you gotta keep that in mind ;) Thanks for having a go at the riddle too!

Oh, Vikings is in at the moment what with the Vikings series, plus all the other films. One of the ones I watched recently was Valhalla Rising, which wasn't given good reviews, but I found it really good, and that for a film which only has around 200 lines of dialog.

Yeah, definitely. I really wish I could actually get started on either my Viking themed book or game while the interest is still strong... unfortunately I'm far too busy / lazy to do so...

Thanks for the link! I really like it when the effects are original and not borrowed from some library where it may be used by movies and other video games. (for example, I can't stand hearing anymore the same cheap car crash effects in some movies)

Also, a little offtopic, but this guy's voice is very fitting for narrating in these type of videos (and also can be used for tutorials).

Man, I'm loving all these recommendations. Gonna find that film for sure. Pumped, cheers!

I particularly enjoy his calm demeanor and soothing voice when he talks about Volgarr's warrior spirit:

His skull-bashing combat skills and his hatred for lizard men and giant monstrous snakes. XD
