Was looking at specs says you need i5 processor but I have one of those 3000 something dual processors in my laptop. Also says you need 8 gb of ram I have 4 gb of Ram. In addition it says you need 55 gigs hard drive space free as well. I have 300 gigs free. So looks like just need a memory upgrade. Started download install of the game at library yesterday and after 6 hours it was 12% complete then I paused it and came back saturday and continued the download install again it's at over 35% complete now. No internet at my home so doing download/install of Bard's Tale 4 Barrows Deep at the library. No idea what kind of video I have under the hood either could be an issue if not powerful enough. My laptop is an Inspiron 17 5000 series by the way. Any advice how to proceed? I was really psyched to be able to get this premium version off of gog.com by purchasing with some of my birthday funds. Hope it turns out well in the end.......to......be .........continued ........

How much will 8gb - 16gb of ram run for these days? Is it terribly difficult to find out how much space you have and buy accordingly then install after? Well the sticker hard to read underneath but says P26E. Video is set at 1600x900.
Possible to add video card even if there's integrated video?

The i5-3xxx series is 3rd Gen, not too bad for daily tasks, gaming not so much though. A basic 8GB Ram module costs roughly about 70$. Before spending in upgrades though you should check if you have a secondary graphics chip in your system. The integrated Intel HD is a bit weak for that game.

Can you please post the exact laptop model, or better yet a picture of the sticker underneath. The Inspiron 17 5000 series are upgraded regularly, it's not just 1 specific model.

Guys omg!!! Come to find out after the fact Mcdonalds internet is superior to library download was 2.0 at Mcdonalds but .6 at library. any way the download installation is completed. After 2 days of library slow zone finished it up at fast zone at Mcdonalds on Sunday.
shit
too bad the nearest McDonalds is 50 miles from me.
Confounded will I ever get to play this game? I keep getting error that says this game requires directx runtime. Aint that supposed to be included in download installation? Or is that separate download I need to do? Running Windows 10 don't know if that's an issue. Why isn't Bard's tale 4 barrow's deep recognizing direct x 12 which is clearly installed with windows 10? Dxdiag helped me find out which direct x I have.

Ok
uninstalled the game and attempting to reinstall game at mcdonalds start to finish with no breaks in between
Ok this time I installed the game and was 30 gb instead of 29 gb and when I click play nothing happens last time I got directx error at least but this time nothing maybe it's because I only got 4gb of ram..... :-( Perhaps I'll try again once additional memory is installed......

I got the opening credits to play there was a hobbit singing skarabrae this guy sounds familiar lotr I think....Ok froze up at the lighting page that comes up. Did all this without getting memory upgrade but yeah as soon as I get my 80 bucks I'm getting the 8gb ram card. Love the music!!!
After it went crazy froze up and makes gawdawful sound only stopped by shutting down lappy. Maybe lighting should be lower idk if I get back in game will test it out. Keep getting fatal error when I try to play it now won't even play the introduction thing.
Getting new laptop want to have 16mb in system so have enough to play this and do other things big multitasker.
I can't run the game either if i set recommended settings, at least it does run but choppy, lowering settings helps a lot in that aspect

You're going to need more than just 8-16GB of RAM.

You're also going to need a real dedicated video card here too.

Bard's Tale 4 has listed as requiring a 2GB Nvidia 760 or 3GB Radeon 7970 card...
...but actually recommends a GTX 970 (3.5/4GB card) or AMD 290 card (4GB VRAM card).

Basically, this game requires a modern 3GB VRAM on the video card as a bare minimum.
With modern games, you normally want to be above or way beyond the recommendation for the 30fps or 60fps performance.

I have this backlogged on Steam and I do run a 6GB GTX 1060 laptop video card. So, when I get home, I could check it out and see how it runs on that.

Ok, this has been looooong road but finally getting a new laptop:

Dell G3 15.6 inch FHD w/ 144hz refresh rate

gaming laptop. Intel Core i7-10750H 10th gen, 16gb Ddr4 Ram, 512gb SSD,

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 6gb GDDR6, Windows 10 Home

Hopefully, this new system will run Bards tale 4 barrows deep. Been a long time since I bought this on gog.com and now

might actually get to play the game. Ecstatic guys!!! September 27, 2020 today should be picking up my new computer
