mattig89ch: Hidy ho all,
I recently saw GOG's anouncement for linking your steam and GOG account. And, you could get copies of games you already own on steam, on GOG.
And, I was filled with worry. I love GOG's business model. The whole thing of, you buy it and its yours. No activation, ect. It reminds me on the early days of gaming.
Valve's business model, is the oposite. Control, and monitoring of what you buy. And only purchasing the rights to play games, instead of the games themselves.
Now, I don't belive steam to be evil. I'm not a huge fan anymore, sure. But they have their purpose, and it is a convenient means of purchasing games.
But I have a preference for GOG's business model.
So my question, and worry, is: are GOG and steam merging?
Where do these people come from? I recently saw GOG's anouncement for linking your steam and GOG account. And, you could get copies of games you already own on steam, on GOG.

...the same place they came from when GOG emerged out of beta, or when they introduced the "Bigger, Fresher, Newer" GOG and became "mainstream".

It is a valid question. When something like this occurs, naturally mergers or acquisition topics of discussions will be asked.

rampancy: It means that there will be a lot of people posting a lot of repetitive questions about GOG, Steam, and Connect. It also means that there will be a lot of people posting a lot of repetitive Steam vs. GOG debate threads. It also means that there will be (a lot of?) people posting screaming tirades about how GOG decieved/lied to/tricked them into buying games, because they thought that buying a GOG game would automatically give them a Steam key.
