TentacleMayor: There are good and great games in every generation. Games that were cutting-edge AAA 10 years ago are now a nostalgic part of people's childhood. Are these the games people want when they ask for classics on GOG? No, they want 90s games, none of this ''new'' garbage.
Er...the mid-90s are imo absolutely the best time of PC gaming and as a whole will never be topped in terms of quality and complete game world experiences, including manuals and supplemental material. However, would you believe some of my favorite games on GOG are indeed titles from the last 10 years? That was a major reason I ended up here, not only did GOG have old games I loved, it had versions of newer games like Fallout: New Vegas and Dead Space, that I could own. It may sound cheesy but I was beaming with smiles to see some of these games here and realizing I could actually own them on PC, as I refuse to use Scheme (Steam).

Also, for what its worth, I didn't really see older gamers complaining about big releases like Bioshock (beyond wanting the original version of it). Or Dragon Age Origins, or Dead Space. In fact, I think if the rest of these series were to come here, I imagine they would be big sellers (okay, I don't feel I need Dead Space 3 but point stands otherwise). Bring good AAA games from that era and I think it interests even the old-schoolers. The problem is game quality and completeness. A lot of new games, not just indie and not just AAA, feel lacking compared to what was offered in the past. But, there are many games (like the ones I mentioned earlier in this post), which certainly stand the test of time.

rjbuffchix: they wasted vast money and resources on Galaxy, profiles, and a website redesign that their users loathe. Imo, all of those resources should have instead gone towards bringing more classic and "old AAA" titles back from when AAA games were good (so, basically, pre-Steam).

How do those resources get System Shock remastered here? I don't recall exactly when it was listed...could've sworn before redesign but brain is foggy anymore. But I think it could come without client/profile/site redesign...really, the client is the only one that is even arguable (dev maybe preferring the update method).

I mean games like that. It looks like the only real remaster.
How can those resources get games like that here?.. I don't know really, I am not a specialist.
Spend this resources elsewhere:
Form CD Project game remastered division?
Make GOG appeal to remaster devs?
Provide some kind of help to remaster devs?
Or any other solution probably will work better then constant GOG site mutilation.

Seems like Fireflower Games redesigned their site too. And what do you know:
- The front page looks cleaner but at the same time more informative, having the news finally there as well instead of separately.
- The catalog has more filters than before. Oh, and game names are still visible everywhere, imagine that.
- Not just that you don't get autoplaying videos as soon as you click or even hover on something, but they're placed last where available, after the screenshots... Though sadly there's an auto slideshow through the screenshots and when it does get to the video that does autoplay. Hmph.
- They could get it to still work in IE.
Maybe GOG's devs could ask for some lessons...

With the news of Diablo, I rushed to buy it instantly when the e-mail arrived a couple of days ago. My excitement rapidly turned to dust when I came face to face with the horrible new design and I couldn't let myself buy the game that I wanted to add to my GOG collection for so long. I couldn't even see the game's info page properly. There is only 1 other website that I hate like this which ironically belongs to EA.

GOG gave a HUGE middle finger to many of it's loyal customers when it downgraded the website, by trying to force us to use a specific browser just to view things, making it unviewable on browsers that GOG don't like. I lost respect for GOG on that day! I'm not going to be loyal to a website that treats it's customers like that.

And GOG is still the only website that has this problem. Every other website can be viewed fine in lots of different browsers.

I don't come here so often any more. Not because of the changes though. What I can see, the changes haven't been that huge, though maybe I'm missing something. I don't like some of them. It seems as though they are making it a bit harder to sift through the games almost...but, maybe that is just because I was so used to the old way that this old dog is going to take awhile to learn. I see why one would complain a bit...however, I don't think it is horrible personally. Still, a site should always be made better, not worse. I don't know, maybe it is better on cell phones now...who knows...

At least they are releasing Blizzard games a bit..that makes me very happy. Older games are why I like GOG that and DRM free and said games updated to run on modern systems of course. Wish they would release some more classics, but, I'm sure that is easier said than done. GOG is much better than nothing in my book, and without it, I wouldn't have half these beautiful classic games that I do on my rig.

Here's hoping they put things right as possible for as many people as possible, with the resources they have available. I'm sure they want to, can't think why they wouldn't. So for those GOG employees trying their best with what they have and what they are told they can do, thank you.

Yes, I haven't given any updates to you guys, as I'm still waiting for proper info and timeline from developers. I hope to have some good news about the changes we're working on soon™.
So at this point I'm just going to assume that our concerns are never going to be addressed. It doesn't take this long if GOG actually wants to address the problems that are highlighted in this thread, so one has to assume GOG isn't going too. Most of them are trivial, and I could fix a lot of the issues with the redesign myself via script but I don't feel like I should have too.

Add that to the pile of bugs that GOG also isn't addressing and one has to wonder what the point is. I won't pretend to know what your developers do all day, but from the outside looking in it doesn't appear to be very much.

I've seen people talking about GOG on various places like Reddit due to the sale, and the comments I've seen largely relate to a) how much the redesign sucks and b) the lack of release filters which have made some people not want to spend money here because they are specifically looking for older games.

These decisions are just baffling and GOG is only hurting themselves.

That is exactly how you do it. You inform your users beforehand and show them what they will soon see and then test it and the release it. And this is the exact opposite of what GOG has done and is still doing, just like amateurs they are. Sorry, but this is the truth, even if I get downvoted because I say (my) truth.

You don't have to tell me... I would like to disagree with you, but the fact that it's been like 4 weeks and the bug with owned games is still happening even after the issue has been found by GOG users and even provided a fix... just continues to show GOG's devs are indeed amateurs that are failing badly when it comes to running this store. There is no excuse for a major bug like this to not be fixed in 4 weeks.

... and no excuse for not fixing other (easy to fix !!!) bugs like false sort order or broken user overall ratings, giving biased information for every game. Thats no reliable place where I like to spend money.

I actually like the new GoG, I was using it before as well and I found it to be okay, it was more of a novel idea and I had a few games that I at least had installed on the computer.

But to me the new GoG is better in a lot of ways, while it is only a competitor in the sense that you do own the games and you can download them and keep them forever. And honestly, that alone is a reason for me to prefer to buy games on GoG over Steam. I don't mind the slow website and how clunky it can be to find a game, I use GoG more as the place to double-check-if-they-have-it-with-good-pricing then a platform to currently find out if I might want a game.

But where I find the flaw for my way of buying games, and was something that was great with GoG connect (even if it didn't actually support the website) is how if you buy a game key from a third party, you will msot likely only have Steam as a choice. This I try to change by leaving wishes for GoG keys on their websites, as it is the only real way for me to make the change I want to see.

To me however I do feel there is a huge difference between 'Good Old Games' and 'GOG' due to where the focus lies, and I really want them to do well to the point where I would probably even consider purchasing shares in the company after I have finished my studies if they needed it because I would want to support their efforts out of principle.
