That aside, I agree that the space between image and title could be used to provide more info; IIRC, in the old catalogue List View, the info about genre was displayed, so it'd be nice if we could have that (back?), both in the catalogue and in the results when performing a search from the nav-bar.

What you get now, are still some blinking screenshots, if you hover over the pics, probably delivered by the goggletagmanager, which can't be blocked, but it is far better than those autoplaying vids, and I would have stopped completetely to browse this site if I couldn't do that. Maybe the gog- team should finally listen to the many, many people, who hate this abomination....

And if additionly, you're reducing the view size to 50%- 70% you get an almost, I mean almost working and nice look, small like the neck of a giraffe and only using 1/3 of your screen, but clearly arranged. What a delight for my poor mouse wheel... and my RAM...and my eyes...and my brain...

I stopped buying from GOG the day they removed it (wasting hours of my time spent organizing my games' library).

The real problem with this feature was, that GOG couldn‘t find anyone who could really fuck this up and implement it with a few breaking bugs, so they had to remove it completely. Simple as that.

Please don't spread such lies. Are you saying that the same people who thoroughly screwed up the front page design and did two changes for the worse for every change for the better on the game pages (which were already worse than their previous installment if I remember the community's reaction back then) wouldn't be more than capable of finding a way to fuck up manual sorting in ways neither of us can conceive of? I call BS.

They've got some top-tier design incompetence over there, and if you challenge them like that they'll be forced to prove it. Even further, I mean.

The manual sorting already had a breaking bug, it completely stopped working when the number of games on your shelf reached a certain threshold (600-something, if I remember correctly). They couldn't (or wouldn't) fix this, so they removed the entire feature.

I wonder if it fixed or if they disabled it for the sale. Regardless, if it is going to stay that way they need to up the image resolutions. They look blurry when you hover over them because they get stretched.

Yes, that would seem like a cinch to do. But maybe a feature where user can make decisions and have control of things didn't agree with their vision of what the new GOG should be, and they saw a convenient opportunity to get rid off it once and for all.

Yeah, maybe. We can only hope they swapped that bunch of nincompoops, and it would have to be with something better as I don't think there was anything worse available. But I'm not sure about Gog sending away the tares. Well the first entry on their list of open job positions is that of a lead web developer, so I don't think the hiring process is quite complete yet ;)

If there's anything good about the website is that they decided not to compress (minimize) javascript variable names in their code, which makes it easier to user script around. For example, my catalog page now looks like this:
