GOG must not believe it worth their time (because time = money) to keep testing on XP. It's up to you if you want to continue buying here or not.

Huh. I'd never heard of it. Though the English Wiktionary entry notes that it's "archaic", and, if the quotations on that page are anything to go by, it hasn't really been popular (if it ever was) since the 16th or 17th century, so that's probably why. :P
I just assumed it was either a translation error, or one of those oddball words that some conspiracy theorists like to make up and pass around their subculture. ;)
Thanks.

If you're getting online on an XP machine, you are not very bright.

But I tell about games pages that had "WinXP" sysreqs noted and about games that had been already tested on XP by GOG stuff. These games DO RUN and will EVER RUN on WinXP. it's all about changing the info on the appropriate game pages, deleting XP mention from them. I don't think it's fair.
For a platform that is still supported, it's "easy". You get the latest most patched up version of that platform and you test on that.
For a platform that is no longer supported, there is not standard anymore. The provider will not give you the latest version of the platform so there is no longer any reference point (and without the remote auto-updating, manually setting up what is hopefully the latest version before they pulled the plug can be a pain in the neck too and lets not get into the details of telling a customer to upgrade to that version...).
Really, the only way they could possibly support Windows XP for their games going forward would be to acquire the rights to Windows XP and maintain/distribute it themselves and that just won't happen.
Anyways, you got to update your OS once in a while. Things change (hardware and also software with regard to what it needs from an OS) and OSes need to evolve to accommodate those changes. If you don't like paying 100$+ every couple of years to upgrade Windows, switch to Linux (you'll still have to upgrade every couple of years, but it will be free of charge).

If he hadn't called pulling XP support a "complot" and used that as a jumping board to paint GOG as a bad service overall (an opinion that would definitely need to be elaborated more), I don't think he would have been downvoted.

It even exists in other languages. It’s Komplott in German, for example.
And it’s not so hard to derive its meaning if you know the meaning of plot.
Most people use a different Latin word for it nowadays: conspiracy ;)

I don't think it was mentioned yet that if XP was listed as supported you would be eligible for a refund if you failed to get it running on your outdated system, but not before support has wasted hours trying to reproduce your obscure issue and help you.
Similarly they only list like two linux distros as supported, even though the linux games probably work just fine on most of them. And they don't give a peep about all those games that work on linux with wine. If they work, great, but they take no responsibility over it when they don't.
