Ramor_: Can't shake the feeling that this thread was necro-bumped to just make it look like there is a huge interest for anime games now, in general. Someone may be very tactical. :D Many gamers are quite not happy with it here and anime "needs" mostly positive and active looking, long as possible thread to make it easier to justify what kind of anime they are pushing now. But that view would be a lie, since there are years of difference between posts here. :D

But what I know, just my two cents. I was just having the impression that a big necro-bumping is frowned-upon by mods themselves generally on the internet (even while I never really cared). Not sure how it's here. I just wanted to point out it's an old thread here, because it does makes me a bit confused. And it could confuse people that care about recent recommendations.

I personally don't recommend any anime games here.
Can't shake the feeling your personal distaste towards anime games has blurred your reality. The thread is not about games, and It was necroed by a spammer.

Well still just pointing that out, because some people may missed it (old thread), whatever it is for.
God knows who spams for what reason... I just shared what sense I can make of it.

you are right
there are usually new accounts from pakistan or india(fake origin) used for rep botting clearly by someone who lives on this forum nonstop and wants to push agendas like animes and porn

yep necroing is against the rules, but as usual biased moderation won't do a thing with this probably

I noticed too...
I've recently started watching Cowboy Bebop and I'm enjoying it so far. It hasn't instantaneously hooked me like Ghost in the Shell did but it's still pretty solid and is growing on me with each episode. Plus, it has some cool sci-fi concepts and great characters.
Speaking of agenda. Recently a new episode of Demon Slayer came out. It was a rather typical shonen anime fight with a powerful demon, except this time Tanjiro (anime protagonist) was incapacitated, so his sister Nezuko had to protect him. Nezuko is actually a demon too (she was turned in the very first episode), so her fight with another demon was very brutal, with a lot of blood and even torn limbs (luckily Nezuko "got powerup" and was able to regenerate quickly).

Guess what Twitter complains about now? Nezuko's boobs. Yes, that's what the Twitter crowd and news sites thought to be the most important out of all this.

I didn't like its direction toward the end much, even though it was predictable for the genre. Try Outlaw Star and Trigun later if you haven't already for more upbeat sci-fi action, Baccano if you'd want same gun-toting slapstick action but set in the past century, Requiem for the Phantom if you'd want modern day action drama with good music, and Monster if you'd want crime/psychological epic afterwards.

Bunch of idiots, hell do they watch dark fantasy for if they're so thin-skinned? But hardly a surprise, considering where they are.

Not wrong. Shame some decent artists use it over virtually any other place more convenient to post art.

I've seen the recent live action TV show... It was OK. Not great but decent.

Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star, throw in Scryed and Evangelion and you've got my junior year of high school.

I've watched the first 2 episodes of Cowboy Bebop so far and have to say I am thoroughly unimpressed. Episode 2: so another random, throwaway villain steals someone's dog and the two bounty hunter dudes (that I'm so emotionally uninvested in, I can't even remember their names) have to chase all over town to track it down. So far it seems quite formulaic and predictable, with very little character development. It's got absolutely nothing on Stein's Gate, imo.

Lately, I've been watching Record of Lodoss War, which I've been enjoying quite a bit. It's old, but seems well-made and fun. Also quite unpredictable, with some interesting twists and turns. Good show.
For newer Slice-of-Life animes, here's a couple I can recommend.

Summer/Fall 2021 Season - Aquatope on white sand

- A journey of two girls meeting after one is facing a shattered dream, while the other is struggling to hold on to her current one. The meeting changes both their lives and so the story begins, along with a cast of friends and family to make it quite the wholesome and enjoyable anime. Most of the story takes place centered life at an aquarium.

-

Winter Season (current) - Akebi's Sailor Uniform

- An anime that is currently airling. The story takes place in an all-girls private school. Akebi is a new student who enjoys cute things and fell in love the sailor uniform her mother wore back in her day and decides to apply at the same school. Each episode shows their school life, with challanges and new discoveries, with Akebi standing out quite a bit, though she's not the only one. Also, her family interactions are fun to watch too. Most of the story seems to take place at school or at Akebi's house.

-

There are some isekai (did I spell that right? lol) ones that I can recommend once I recall their titles. Some japanese anime seem to have really long titles lol. Anyway, a lot fo these are about people reincarnated to another world from Earth.

To me, by far, the best episode of Cowboy Bebop was the 5th one. I love the music. The ending in the church was great.

Redline, a 2009 film directed by Takeshi Koike, is a great great great film about sci-fi racing. Must watch in a big screen with the lights off. A great shot of adrenaline.

Ok, I might watch that episode next then and see if it does any more for me. The first two episodes really haven't done a good job of hooking me in. I agree the music is really good and the show is stylish, but so far I'm finding the substance (characters, plot etc) to not be very engaging.

Thanks for the recommendation for Redline as well, that sounds really good.

I'll freely admit of all middle aged anime it's most hit and miss with people. Can't speak for comparison to Stein's Gate, they do not have much touching ground, not like the former and the titles I mentioned in the previous post, not even like latter and, say, Serial Experiments Lain, Erased, Darker than Black and Noein.

Check Legend of Crystania and Rune Soldier from the same setting. Watch Twelve Kingdoms and Wizardy after if you haven't already, they're also great fantasy classics. Or .hack//Sign, for fantasy adventure that takes place inside a MMORPG. One of the best soundtracks in the anime by my reckoning, too.
