Do anyone of you own a budget amd rx card and play it on windows 7 ?
Im thinking about upgrading my 1050 ti to rx 6400 or 6500 and my main concern is does the card work on 7.
Also are older games supported, thanks for the input.

Does this answer your question?

There's drivers for Windows 7, not updated though.
I'm positive you already aware but those cards are "special" in the sense they are repurposed laptop parts, the interface is PCI-e 4.0x4. If your pc has the older PCI-e 3.0 there's a considerable loss of performance. There's also the issue of the cards lacking video encoder and AV1 decoder.

IMHO the only use for those cards is the low profile RX6400 variant, otherwise I would look at other options, like the nVidia 1650 Super, wich also has Win7 drivers.

Thanks, but the 1650 super is far too expensive, about 250 euro, will think about the 6400, i mostly play older games. thanks

Used 6GB 1060 cards can be bought for much less than that and don't seem to perform much worse than the 1650 super.

I almost bought a Rx6400 for my nephew recently, cause he has a very old card and his Small Form Factor pc has been upgraded in every other way. What made not buying the card is that on older systems, it's hardly faster than a 1050Ti and the lack of video encoder severly limits his "multitasking" ability.

Link for a somewhat trusty review of the Rx6400 comparing to the 1050Ti

The Rx6400 is indeed a good GPU on paper, and on a low profile variant is pretty much the only affordable choice. The thing is, is an worthy upgrade from a 1050Ti for older games? You'll decide and wish you the best, one way or another :)

Not everyone like to buy used stuff, but for those who like to take the risk (yeah, mining...), at least my country, the GTX 1660/Super/Ti are by far the best GPU deals at the moment. They are selling for roughly the same price as 1060's and 1650's.

Hmm.. you are right it is just a small performance upgrade from 1050 ti on pcie 3, Pricewise the rx 6600 seems to outperform 1660 s on pcie 3, just does that card have win 7 support, too expensive to risk it, mayby the rx 6500 under 200 seem to be a lesser risk. thanks for the 6400 info.
If you want to get a gpu for older games (mainly dx9, dx10, opengl) and win7, then look for older gcn cards like 580-590 with 8GB vram (I keep vega56 for that reason around). Not sure if you can get a new one for a normal price though. Alternatively look for some nvidia gtx cards, they have an edge where it comes to compatibility and gameworks titles (physx, hairworks, etc) made during nvidia's dev bribery program (nvidia's the way it's meant to be played logo in games).

Rdna2 and 3 are not that great with older dx9 and opengl titles in general and the performance hit on those budget pcie4 cards with only 64bit memory bus is considerable on pcie3 motherboard. Well, "budget" in name only ... rx570 4GB costed 100 bucks here new in early 2019. I would call that a budget card then.

Drivers from amd are pretty old for W7, it is only a slightly tweaked driver from mid-2021, released as a legacy driver in 8/2022. Not much of a problem for gcn cards, but for rdna2 and esp. rdna3, it might be a problem in some games.

RX6400 exists only for those who need a single slot card with no need for additional power from the psu, while having pcie4 mobo. Otherwise it won't be much of an upgrade. 6500xt would be a bit better, but I would still rather get 580-590 for older games.

Edit: RX6600 would be an actual upgrade. All these gpus are still overpriced.
