botan9386: This was literally how I found out about GOG lol, I never paid much attention to rhe prime games before but they were giving away Fallout 3 which I wanted to try and I thought "okay let me see what this GOG is".
avatar
Kerr_Laeda: Same (except it was for Elder Scrolls Oblivion).
Prime partnership has been a big win it seems. I wonder how many other people stumbled across GOG from there.

Syphon72: Like to point out if it's not already. 90% of the Prime app games have been DRM free for me. Right now Prime games is my second largest catalog of DRM free games.
That's good to know. Is there a way to download them without installing the client (as one can with steam, epic and gog)?

AWS Command Line Interface (CLI) is used to manage Amazon applications, but I'm not sure if it works with the Prime Gaming app.

Because I haven't looked into it yet, but the Amazon Prime app feels very lightweight and somewhat similar to the GOG downloader in terms of features.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Here you go: Nile
https://github.com/imLinguin/nile

If you want a GUI: Heroic Games Launcher
https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher

Heroic also uses Nile as a backend, it also uses Legendary backend for Epic Games and GogCli for GOG.
Been using Nile for more than a year now as I prefer CLI, but Heroic is very good too.

Heroic is great.

You can see games displayed there graphically, like GOG shelf, and you can toggle what the client is showing, Epic, GOG, Amazon Prime, or all at once.

The download is so unbelievably fast (at least for me) that I have sometimes thought there was some error, and the download was cut and corrupted, but nope, it really is superfast.

And so far all Amazon Prime games I have downloaded have been DRM-free.

The only problem I have had with it was when the computer crashed during download (not related to Heroic), and when I restarted Heroic, I couldn't get any game info from the store.
Solution: delete installed.json and let Heroic rewrite it, problem fixed.

Otherwise, nothing to complain about, although some new additional features could be nice, although not really needed.

Thanks. Nile looks very promising. Heroic is not for me, as I don't use any GUI clients.

Yes, it's really good.
I've experience this problem with Amazon Games being installed through Heroic, too. Many times they don't show as uninstalled if you remove the files manually instead of using the GUI.

But I know for sure that this is not a problem with Heroic, but with Nile. I tend to download the game and back it up manually, so the game would still show up in the installed.json file for Nile in its configs/login cache folder.

So if you use the command:

nile library list
The game will show as installed, even if you already removed the game from its installation folder manually.
I think this also happens with Heroic.
In Heroic though, it shows in the GUI as "Game Unavailable" or something like this, which can be easily fixed, as you explained, by deleting said file. Heroic will, then, automatically update its games list cache again.

If you need any help on how to use Nile, feel free to post your questions.
Its quite weird to use initially as there is not much documentation around.

Thanks. I will. I'm still waiting for some game I'm somewhat interested in to appear on Prime. Nothing yet, perhaps in December.
Quick question about Amazon selling games:

https://www.amazon.com/Call-Cthulhu-Wasted-Land-Download/dp/B00D3TONR6

The company that made the game went out of business:

https://redwaspdesign.wordpress.com/2016/06/03/fhtagn-and-thanks-for-all-the-squid/

Is the game still legitimately up for sale through Amazon?

Is it the final updated version?

Does it even work on Windows 10/11?

I don't trust Amazon so I am asking here.

Why not trust them? They will get you a refund if it does not work.

You ever work for Amazon? I have heard horror stories from family members who had the misfortune of working for that mega corp. They are not very friendly, now I hear they are really pushing AI to answer questions so it's pointless to ask questions there.
