Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

Lyrically & musically, this album told an amazing story of corruption in American government, and what could happen if the right person pushed the right buttons on the right people.
Getting some good tips here!

The first few that come to mind are:

Queen - Innuendo. OK, not every track on it is brilliant, some of it gets a little experimental for me. But when it's good it's so good. The Show Must Go On nails me hard every time I hear it.

The Sisters Of Mercy - Floodland. Had to include a Sisters album, but had a tough time choosing one. Ultimately though, Floodland has Lucretia My Reflection and This Corrosion on it...

Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe. Love his sound, and his classic horror theme.

ChaunceyK: Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Had to visit Youtube and listen to this album. Not bad, really not bad. Sounds a bit like Helloween, especially the singer and the drummer. I once read that the voice of the singer of Helloween (Michael Kiske) is a mix of the voice of Bruce Dickinson and the singer of Queensryche.

Oh, someone mentioned Queen?
Well, Queen did make some really great albums:
Queen II
A night at the opera
News of the world
Shoot, why not... I've actually wanted to make a similar thread for a while now. Some really good contributions so far; maybe some of you will find these interesting:

Stabbing Westward - Darkest Days

Deftones - Koi No Yokan

DevilDriver - Pray For Villains

VOLBEAT - Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood

VOLBEAT - Beyond Hell - Above Heaven

Motörhead - Inferno

Sister Sin - Black Lotus

Electric Six - Fire

Moonspell - Alpha Noir / Omega White

VAST - Visual Audio Sensory Theater

I buy and listen to quite a lot of music, and these are among the best albums I've ever bought. It's a fairly eclectic mix of flavours/subgenres, but they're mostly some form of Rock/Metal.
Well, I never was a fan of Motörhead, I always found the music -and especially the voice of Lemmy- to be too "flat".
The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Alice In Chains - Dirt
Black Sbbath - Paranoid
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Pearl Jam - Ten
The Sword - Gods Of The Earth
Metallica - Master Of Puppets

VOLBEAT is an awesome Danish band. I didn't want to include any Danish bands in my list, because I was afraid nobody/too few would know/care about them, but here are a few of my Danish favourites (the albums are in English, FYI).

DAD - No Fuel
DAD - Riskin' It All
Fielfraz - Electric Eel
Sko/Torp - Familiar Roads

Oh, and a Swedish one:

Makke - It's Binary, Baby
Swedish? Oh, I have one:

Roxette - Joyride
I love this album. Some really great songs on it.

nightcraw1er.488: From my side, I would add anything from Nightwish (Tarja era).
But then there are many more, quite a lot already mentioned.

Koyot: Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth

nightcraw1er.488: Fantastic album, surprised it was mentioned as didn't seem that well known.
It's the best stuff they ever did (so far), and I think that it will remain so. You can pick two or three great songs from any of their albums, but Nightfall is really one long absolutely perfect epic song...if Blind Guardian ever releases their version of LOTR soundtrack it might be as good as Nightfall, but I doubt that we'll ever get to hear it.
After Forever - Decipher
Alice in Chains - Dirt
Ayreon - The Universal Migrator (both CD's)
Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell
Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side / Nightfall in Middle-Earth
Dio - Holy Diver
Dream Theater - Images & Words
Dredg - Catch Without Arms
Epica - The Phantom Agony
Guns'n'Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Iced Earth - Horror Show
Iron Maiden - Powerslave / Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds
Jethro Tull - Aqualung / Thick as a Brick
Jon Oliva's Pain - 'Tage Mahal
Judas Priest - Painkiller
King Diamond - Abigail / Them / Conspiracy / The Eye
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory / Meteora
Lordi - The Monsterican Dream
Mercyful Fate - Melissa / Don't Break the Oath
Metallica - Master of Puppets / And Justice for All
Midnight Oil - Diesel & Dust
Monster Magnet - Powertrip / Monolithic Baby! / Mastermind
Nightwish - Oceanborn / Century Child / Once
Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic Calling
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here / The Wall
Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34 The Complete Trip / In Absentia / Deadwing / Fear of a Blank Planet
Postal Service - Give Up
Queensrÿche - Operation Mindcrime
Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland The History of the Vikings Volume 1
Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe
Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King / Gutter Ballet / Streets / Poets & Madmen
Skyclad - Wayward Sons of Mother Earth
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Stream of Passion - Embrace the Storm
Whitesnake - Whitesnake
Within Temptation - Mother Earth
Wolverine - Cold Light of Monday / Still
Refused - The shape of punk to come

Perfect album, front to back.

Yeah, I know they're from Denmark. :) It's really hard for me to put my favourite bands in any kind of order, or pick a single "No.1" band, but if I had to, it would probably be VOLBEAT. There's so many great Scandinavian bands, which also includes Sister Sin, and various awesome Viking/Folk Metal bands.

And I didn't include German bands for the same reason, since I wasn't sure many people here would care for them if they can't understand the lyrics. ( Plus, I don't listen to many German speaking bands. )

Here's one I've been listening to a lot the last few months:

Kettcar - Du und wieviel von deinen Freunden ( catchy Indie-Rock with very mature, intelligent lyrics )

And another great German band/ album(s):

Broilers - Vanitas

Broilers - Noir

It's not all just Rammstein here, contrary to popular belief. :D

I've known and liked that song and its video clip since its release all those years ago, and have listened to it every now and then, yet I never bought that album. I think I ought to change that.
