Rumor has it that Windows 11 will not run 32-bit apps/games once it releases. Assuming this becomes true, how will that impact GOG games? Seeing how GOG has brought us older games that (I assume) don't use 64-bit.

Unless I'm mistaken & I/we have nothing to worry about.

I understand Windows 11 will come only in a 64-bit edition. So the rumor of W11 not running 32-bit apps is not true then?
Win 7 64-bits can perfectly well run 32-bit apps, so I think it's the same with Windows 11.

I'm currently running the latest preview build from the Windows Insider dev channel on one of my systems. It has absolutely no problem running 32-bit applications. In fact, every program and device driver from my Windows 10 system runs without issue on Windows 11. And that's not surprising at all, because what Microsoft is calling "Windows 11" was originally going to be just another bi-annual feature update for Windows 10. It really isn't a new operating system.
I don't think there will be a problem with 32 bit apps... Even if they say it wont support 32 bit. I guess 32 bit here means it wont support old 32 bit architecture laptops not app/games..
This is about hardware, not software. As long as the compatibility layer is still there (it has been since the XP days), there shouldn't be any issues running 32-bit programs.

I guess the decision to name it as a new Windows release (instead of a feature update) comes from e.g. the TPM 2.0 requirement, meaning not all PCs which are capable of running Windows 10, can necessarily run Windows 11. Such change couldn't have been released as a feature update. In that sense it makes sense, sensei.

So for older non-TPM 2.0 PCs, I guess the option is to keep running Windows 10 until 2025, and/or switch to Linux.

Oh look, another “it’s a windows update, everything will stop working, aaaargh” post.
Stop asking about things which we have no ability to predict. When the MSDN releases the design spec of the finalized Windows 11, then would be the time to discuss such matters, or as timppu says, just switch to Linux, where none of this nonsense occurs.

NO, since Windows XP 64 bits edition Microsoft provide a compatibility layer making it possible to run 32bits application on a 64bits OSes : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WoW64

There is no indication that Microsoft plan to drop it in Windows 11 and both the leaked version or the official test build support 32bits application just fine.
I don't know who came up with this panic-mode 'nothing will work' because there isn't going to be a 32-bit version of Windows 11 ... Don't listen to rumors end of story.

The only issue might be the TPM 2.0 requirement. Since MS pulled their tool to check for compatibility issues you will wish to use WhyNotWin11 to see whether this is supported and running on your current OS.

For specific information about how to enable TPM 2.0, I would recommend consulting your mainboard manual or to look it up online. Here is also a guide I think is useful as it allows you to check whether or not TPM 2.0 is activated in Windows 10. There might be cases where it is set active in your BIOS but isn't enabled in your OS for some reason. howtogeek

This has given me a little headache when I first tried. In my bios TPM was active but set to discreet (ASUS Prime Z390-A) instead of hardware mode. Once set TPM 2.0 was shown active and the tool has given an all clear signal. I haven't had the chance to test the insider build but will in the next couple of days.

The only thing I like to know is what versions of 11 will be available. Like will there be an enterprise/ultimate like in the good old 2000/Windows 7 days allowing me not having to bother with native XBOX integration? Which, really, the group doing it should be fired for. More important still is the question of their spyware that's all over the place you got to go out of your way to deactivate it in the relevant privacy tabs, in administrative templates, in registry and power-shell to actually silence them. Meaning without full control over the entirety of the OS likely I'm going to skip 11 over. That's some real concerns right there for you to mull over.
Are there any indications as to how much the architecture is going to change in Win11? Will programs that work in Win 10 be guaranteed to work in Win 11?

Correct. Microsoft have not announced that WOW64 is being depreciated.

To be honest, everyone needs to calm down and wait for the release candidate.
