liquidsnakehpks: My main concern with the new forum is what if they force you to use a gog galaxy profile instead of the current one. Porting the old broken forum completely to new one intact is no simple task, they might follow what steam did , shutdown the old steam powered user forums(SPUF) and forced everyone into using their steam community profile directly.

Did anyone of the 6 members ask if the old forums will be ported as is or its a brand new forum?
I don't recall for 100% certain, but if my memory hasn't completely failed me, I think they said it would be completely new forums.
I bet if I started posting pornography and snuff films on my Profile they'd open up about what people can't see. :P

No, no, they'd just boot me and claim that I violated the rules about what is not allowed to be not seen by people who are not allowed to see my profile from the privacy options they insist are there that I was using thus making it impossible for people who can't see my profile to see my profile even though they can't.
It's been such a long time and I've seen the thread's title many times, but I still can't help completing it with “and only 5 came back…”.

Your memory did not fail you.

phaolo: How can a company remain understaffed for 3+ years is beyond me.. O_o
Why they continue to avoid non-residents employees even with such a bad situation?
avatar
Lifthrasil: I don't know how much or little GOG pays. Perhaps there is a big discrepancy between the skills they expect and the salary they can pay. That would explain why they remain understaffed, because they don't find anyone with the necessary skills who is willing to work for the pay they offer.

...that wouldn't fit the image of a growing company, but is rather something, which one often finds in dying companies. But who knows? GOG's personnell/salary decisions might be just as good as their communication decisions. That is: as bad as they can get.
Hearsay alert:
There was a gamer site that had a link to a tech-jobs rating site last December where GOG was reported to have had an "exodus" of employees. No actual number was given. Reasons given were "difference of opinion", "management wouldn't listen" (seemingly when told what they wanted either wouldn't work or wouldn't go over well with customers) and what sounded like a Cluster-B Personality Disorder (unreasoning, ranting and emotionally abusive) person somewhere at the top of the organization. It was not rated as a satisfactory workplace.

I wish I remembered the site, but I don't. Again, hearsay, but it did give me the feeling of employees trying to plug a leaking dike with few fingers as they were being shifted around to work on pet projects at the expense of needed maintenance. Could the differences of opinion have been about pushing the instigation of more social integration and lack of privacy values instead of concentrating on fixing what had been promised or needed?

(edit for spelling)

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. With the move from Cyprus to Poland there have been some shifts in the managment. Maybe some higher up really pushes the idea of becoming more like Steam and Facebook (because they make more money) and everyone who tells him that that is a stupid idea is fired.

Glassdoor?

https://www.glassdoor.com/Overview/Working-at-GOG-com-EI_IE827105.11,18.htm

Would maybe explain why it's now taking weeks to get a response on a ticket only for the response to not be related to the question asked and/ or them to just go ahead and close it as resolved without a response.

edit: The person I'm covering in this office this weekend usually leaves herself signed on to everything including Glassdoor but this weekend she signed out for a change. I can't see any of the reviews to check.

Fired or pressured to quit - yeah, that wouldn't surprise me either. I've worked for those types before. :/

That looks familiar. I don't have an acct so cannot check either. Last time someone had linked to a few reviews. It looks like communication difficulties may just be a part of GOG's culture, internally as well as external, as evidenced by this statement from your link:

"- Communication between teams is sometimes blurry"

I was going to suggest that we start writing to GOG in Polish, but after reading the glassdoor reviews I gave up on the idea

Are you sure about this? From my understanding the move from Cyprus to Poland only happened on paper, because they never really had an office in Cyprus and they were only registered there for tax reasons. I don't think the "move" lead to any changes in management.

I asked in the Profiles thread about what changes GOG upper management might have gone through int he past few years, but nobody responded. bjgamer's note about the "exodus" is really interesting, I hadn't heard about that.
I agree with you on most of your mentioned points, but one I disagree with you ...

MarkoH01: (...) At least they are watching a bit closer for unappropriate behaviour in the forum and they do act accordingly - at least in some cases.
I'm sorry, but if you pick one out of 100 inappropriate postings and delete it, this is not moderation, that is a joke. If I look at all the postings from Tauto, I know that they are not moderating anything here. Nearly always just disturbing the thread he is posting in. Some other guys also come close to this behavior.
So for me there is nothing I see GOG doing right here.

Yes, there was a press notice somewhere that together with the 'merger' CDProject will take direct control over GOG.com. But I don't know whether that's the reason for the changes - or whether that change in management is yet to come and CDProject just had enough of GOG's mismanagement.
