So... turned 35 years old and not much to show for it. How many people have made it past this point and have come to terms with how it will end up?
high rated
I am 30 and in college. A lot of people I know from growing up got in with drugs, turned into dead beats and abandoned their kids, ect and all of the above. A bunch were drop outs both of college and high-school as well. So it could always be worse. Yea, I should have gone to college earlier in life, but due to circumstances (depression mainly). I didn't. So I am working towards getting my life together one step at a time. I might be considered an oddball. I don't have kids, never drank or did drugs, I have never even smoked. So could things have gone better for me? Yea. But do I hate my life or am not happy at the moment? No, I am happy. I am even with a great girl I met and have been with for 20 months now. Life is good even if I don't have my career yet.

Like you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel and have come to terms with that? I can relate to that sentiment.

But its a poisonous way of thinking that caused more than enough setbacks in my life.

Fight it and live a life that you feel is worth living, because we have just one.

Makes me feel better at 26 (university dropout also due to depression - Dysthymia) for not having a career. Glad you are doing well. The path to happiness is not linear it seems.

Go back to school when you feel you can. Baby steps are good, even if people want you to take leaps. Go at your own pace. If you aren't dating, it helps. Find someone who is good for you, not someone who would use you (because of your depression) or can relate. My gf and dad are my biggest supports. Her family even is rooting for me which is a great feeling. Just don't overwhelm yourself and try to enjoy life too, even when it seems hard. Best thing to do is to not give up.

If it makes you feel even better. some people in my classes are my dad's age or older. It is never too late.

Thanks. I actually have a longtime partner/common-law/wife , 8 years in December. We both are lucky to have great families. I know I'd have been on the street years ago if it weren't for them.

I'd recommend exercise to anyone in order to maintain a sense of happiness (and everything else that comes with exercise). Research shows that the less active are surprise less happy, no matter their particular place in life.

Cognitive behavioral therapy also does wonders in undoing those unproductive and detrimental ideation and thought processes.
I am actually going in for therapy. I am hoping to get into Occupational Therapy Assisting, then move on to being a therapist. My goal is to work with kids on the spectrum, to help them develop socially.
I'm 44 with no rep on here.
I doesn't get any better, you just see things in a more cynical light.

Heeey? What do you mean, "end up"? With modern (or even better researched upon ancient) medication, 35 is not even the middle life expectancy for a human, yet! At 35, life usually BEGINS!

People who "come to terms" are wrong. Willpower alone can work miracles (within well placed, reasonable borders, of course)! NEVER come to terms with anything, son! Keep envisioning yourself younger and vigorous increasingly and progressively! And do start exercising. From simple looks to actual body condition, if done correctly, it takes you at least a decade back!

My grandmaster is 80, with painted pink hair and works out more harshly than your average teen. Where is your spark, your determination? Do you accept old timers to shine and pack a punch even, while you "come to terms with how it will end up"? Go hunt some cougars, or even better, little pussies (M E O W)... There is no stronger tonic than being reassured and reinforced by cute little things. You need a restart. On many levels.

Also, as others confessed, for "reasons", i myself too was left irreparably and irredeemably far behind, in both studies and work. There is no use crying over spilt milk, anyway. I just found out what was wrong (even if from others' doing), grit my teeth, recalibrated myself, forced an entire system restart and went out to wrestle my own life out of the hands of my enemies. Their doing even forced me to loose a job/relationship or two in the process but i didn't paint things black. I simply changed direction, constantly try new things and experiment on other ones. Somehow, i aim to reach a place beyond their reach, in which they are going to have zero authority over, so i can settle down, make a living and (hopefully) make a family. AMBITION, even a simple or childish one- those without it, or any other motivation, will be lost. Don't...

Depression sucks any strength out of you, so it's good if you manage to fight it back.
Good luck man and be happy.

I try, and thank you. I just had to find reasons to keep living. I still have depression moods and things like that. But I keep fighting to get what I want in life. Not going to lie and say it is easy. It is a fight some days, some I don't want to get out of bed others have darker thoughts but I don't let those win, ever. But I know if I don't I would regret it.

Happy B'Day.
Age is just a number.
We can't help getting older. But we don't have to get old. :)
Have a nice day.

I am 23 in real life but just about 4 years old as a gamer.
I hope I will unlock your achievements some day.

A gamer lives a million lives before he dies. The man who never games lives only once.
