A18: As DadJoke Bond wrote, it's actually scary. UK have for many years now shown a complete tendency towards fascism and the road to to thought policing is relatively near... "encouraging terrorism" is such a loose term.

Everything from opinions, humour, and art is subject for overzealous control, not to mention (think it was from ArsTecnica or something), UK has one the largest state surveillance system in the world (perhaps only surpassed by China?)

The need to protect oneself seem to backfire into just more control and policing every minute thing... As far as I know he didn't even get a warning and now he's life is essentially ruined because of his jail time. Well, his list of options gets rather small when he gets out.

I wonder how many years away we are from a full conflict again, not unlike the 1789 where normal people were simply fed up with status quo.

Perhaps he should hear/fell some sort of public "reprimand" ala being locked out of social media, or some sort of state service where you work off your sentence and not putting it on the record, but jail?

To me that sounds like coercion and censorship.

DadJoke007: Anyone who thinks that school is about learning, discussion and exchanging ideas should think twice. It's a place for kids to learn to submit and accept the current values of the sitting government. The only thing that has been different is the values, it's just more blatantly obvious now because more people oppose the current values than before.

Glad to see cops treated unjustly though, some ironic justice in that.

But yeah you are right, sadly, with regards to schools....universities moreso, if what I see on youtube/news sites is any indicator.

Also schools are there to teach new generations how to listen to ANY authority including bosses at jobs, and to submit to being used to the 9-5 "factory" system(which is what schools were originally setup to emulate during the last century or so....public ones that is...what with the bells marking periods/classes/end and start of the day/lunch/etc, and other factors).

DadJoke007: Hard to criticize schooling and putting the finger on the core of the problem without it being perceived as political. The subject itself is the result of insane political decisions.

GameRager: Maybe, but I try to keep a focus on the issues presented for the most part to appease people here and the staff as well.

GameRager: Both. They expelled him for the initial/original "charge" of saying there are only two genders, and also because of the fallout from the video he recorded going viral. In the end the video going viral led to the punishment being escalated but the initial thing he did was what led to the final punishment.

Addition: If he posted the video online without consent this should not be a problem. He recorded it in a public school(which is public property iirc) and the teacher didn't say they didn't wish to be recorded so imo what he did with the recording(showing it online to gather support/witnesses or giving it to lawyers/police) is alright in my book.

I find the claims that you make or refer to (punished for both the above reasons, being threatened with further actions) hard to substantiate by online searches. How do you quality check your information? Do you go beyond YouTube vids and Fox News?

GameRager: This one will likely get me some flak, but if the kid/teen truly believed it and wasn't trying to harm anyone physically/mentally while saying it then they shouldn't have been expelled imo.....maybe given a warning by the sensitivity counselor/officer or whomever that school employs for such matters, but not an expulsion.

GameRager: 1. He did get punished for that video being posted, though...hence the initial suspension. They then told him not to talk to the press or risk further punishment and he then got expelled even though he listened to them(when he didn't legally have to).

Also tbh if someone doesn't want video posted online they shouldn't allow someone to record them. Once a person records them they should be able tpost it wherever they please(with a few exceptions).

2. I use other sites like yahoo/etc and the stuff they link to for the most part(In this case I switched to using Timcast as he is usually good/fair when reporting things). As for fact checking I usually check to make sure the story(the basic facts) are true and then I post a post about it, so I do do some fact checking.

If others want to reverify what I already found out or look into the issues posted that is up to them if they want to do so.

(Also if one thinks about it: Why else would they give him additional punishment[first another suspension then expulsion] for merely posting a video online? To me the claim that he was expelled due to fallout from the initial gender controversy seems to be very accurate and believable on today's social climate, especially given what we can verify for certain in this instance.)
