Crosmando: This is a forum for video games, who gives a shit about wannabe "forum celebrities" and what they think.
This is not a forum for video games, this is a forum for gamers. I hope you can understand the difference.

There's no difference, I for one am the physical representation of the game Octodad.
This forum is like Food Fight, except with videogames.

Sorry:)
I'm always sad to see users leave, it makes me feel like scamers and nazi trolls like Crosmando are winning, and eventually will be all that's left. But, for good or ill, the way the forum goes can not really be influenced by talking about it. People will act the way they act, and that's that.

I just wish GOG actually made some proper changes around here, instead of removing "fuck" from thread titles and disabling writing "fuck" in capital letters. Astounding as it may be, those were not exactly major issues. The rep system needs to be removed, "political" threads need their own sub-forum, and using the forum needs to be locked behind a paygate, at least the simplest "buy a single game at any price" one. It's the only way to get rid of the alts.

+1
remove the joining date too while your at it, maybe we can get less of the newcomer vs. old timer hate

Breja: "political" threads need their own sub-forum
i'd vote for moving all non-gaming related threads to a seperate off-topic forum. Especially all those endless threads (what are you reading/listing, Forum Mafia, Count in pictures...)
Due to their nature they always occupy a large part of the first few pages and other stuff gets pushed back far too quickly if you don't visit that often

Breja: and using the forum needs to be locked behind a paygate
uh, pls don't. That would remove the ability for newcomers to inquire about a game before buying. This is still foremost a store ;)

Tarm: Quick! Someone make a Reasons To Stay thread!
1) TinyE! There is no GOG without tinyE!
2) Snowkatt, THE, tm, is back!!!
3) Licurg!
4) Sachys!
5) People with common logic/sense who have their own identity instead of a chaotic, left-wing-extreme crapload or various psycho-biological "disorders"!
6) Giveaways!
7) Merry saints who give away games for free!
8) GoG catalog finally started ADDING and EXPANDING!
9) GOG support is punctual and effective, unlike, eh, um...
10) GOG IS STILL DRM FREE AND GALAXY (client) TOTALLY VOLUNTARY!!!

Separating the General Discussion into to many sub-forums would not be good, you can see the result in the empty game-specific forums. The "political" threads are an exception, because they literally posion the community, and should be kept away from general population.

They can still read the reviews, they have the whole of the internet to google for info about the game. And I don't see many people who bought nothing at all making such inquires here anyway. I really don't see another effective way of dealing with alts and scammers. I'm not happy to recommend that step, but I just don't see good alternatives.

Oh, and finally- a very basic level of moderation. I get that we enjoy our total freedom here a lot, but when some users start talking about sending people to gas chambers, I think a line should be drawn.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: 3) Licurg!
Yeah, getting called a cockroach of a faggot is really a great reason to hang around :P

Are you saying KasperHviid isn't 10 reasons just by himself?
GoG is my favorite store, end of story. I am happy here and will continue to purchase my games here. It is a fair store adhering to 1$ != 1€ and DRM-freeness. I own what I buy.
I think both the OPTIONAL client and the early access program were good choices.

So in short, why on earth would I leave?

The maximum is 9 per person.
