It has tons of armor. -Ok.
It restores armor after 60 seconds aprox. -Fine.
It launches missiles. -Great.
It deploys combat drones. -Yay.
It has targetable turrets that are immediately replaced if we destroy them. - Why?
It can be targeted, shot at with guns and missiles, but several devices don't work on them. -Why?
Corrosion injector cannot target it, only the turrets.
Anihilator Virus, same.
Energized boost+high pressure? Seems not.
EMP generator - the ship was enveloped in the plasma effect, but turrets kept firing.
Dind't try the others.

So, what options do we have against it?
200 rockets and plenty of ammo?

IMO, the ship seems a bit out of logic, compared to others. In Everspace 1, the Okkar corvette could be affected by devices, and its turrets weren't targetable. Only the Okkar frigate and the Colonial Warships had targetable turrets, but these were gone if we destroyed them.

My advice? Make the turrets non respawning. Add an external destroyable device, responsible for the armor reload. (no armor reload if destroyed). Make the ship vulnerable to devices. Increase the number of combat drones it deploys. Give it 2 different missile salvos- normal and emp. Make it summon an elite outlaw when low on life, like the okkar corvette did.

Cheers

Answer: we have many options. Here's one of them which does not require any rockets: https://youtu.be/8wThbWwYga4?t=19 .

No. That is not the destroyer I see. The ones I see have HUGE armor. The health bar is mostly armor. Using a kinetic weapon with high damage only ticks it, and even if I take the armor down to middle, by that time the armor refreshes again to max.
That thing in the video is a paper-kite.

PS: I just found one like in the video. Much easier to defeat. Maybe it's a bug?

Ain't so paper, the gun's good, rather. And ship stats. Plus i'm hitting its weak spots, which is how there are those 4-digit damage numbers out of single autocannon projectile hits.

What player level and destroyer level you're doing it at?

I was level 13, by that time. I have encountered one now, at level 15, and it was the same as in the video. Much easier to defeat.
I wonder if it was a bug?
Sounds like it is, yes. Perhaps something messy happens now and then when we're not yet max level, but stops to happen once we're 15? All 'em destroyers i see now, so far - are easy jobs like in the video. So far, at least.

OR, it could be some few of 'em are just different type - similar to outlaw demolishers, sorta almost all-armor like. I don't know. Maybe someone from Rockfish can tell?
I must have been pretty lucky so far as the ones I came across were reasonably easy. I just used lots of strafing (much like the video) and slammed a bunch of missiles into it and it was then promptly turned into space junk.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a nice variety of capital ships in this game when its finished. I'm hoping and praying there are cap ships that are vast enough that they take a while to fly past. Even if they're too much to destroy it would be fun to have to evade crazy amounts of firepower ;)

*edit* Just realized this is my first post ever in 9 years.....

Vast, like the Okkar frigate. I hated that bastard. Specially when it popped in with a jump supressor.
Hi Johnny,

I could imagine that you ran into a destroyer that was spawned as a part of a mission (for example at Palaemon's Wound). They don't necessarily match the players level. But just guessing there. If you run in something similar again, could you save the game and send us the save files? We then could double check what is going on there. Thanks a lot.

Best regards,
Ingmar

Thanks, I'll do that. Also, I can restart from scratch and see if I find it again. Maybe take snapshots of it?
