Edit: Current pressing question: I've got a highlighted list in TES4Edit after running a conflict filter. I have no idea what to do with the results, nor how to post them. Edit2: That is, it doesn't seem obvious which colours indicate an "unresolved conflict" or "dangerous conflict", or something like that. Edit3: Starting to have some idea of what to do. Edit4: Nope, not a clue.

So I have a modlist weighted heavily towards realism, difficulty, and graphical improvements (in no particular order). It was working a few weeks ago, for a given definition of "working" that includes "occasionally crashes when I draw a weapon" ;) Anyway, since then I've added Oblivion Reloaded, and it now doesn't load at all (CTD when loading mods).

So yeah, buggy modlist even before OR, but I do want to keep OR. So I'm hoping the forum can help me with trimming out conflicting mods. I've read through and eliminated the obvious ones I found, but that still leaves, well, 196 possible conflicts for every mod... Including all the non-obvious ones and the ones I didn't find. Plus, I would not be surprised if I missed a compatibility patch or three.

Help, please? :)

Edit: All mods have been cleaned with TES4Edit (except for "85 Harvest [Flora] - DLCFrostcrag.esp [Version 3.0.0]", which reports problems in BOSS, but nothing to clean in TES4Edit) and ones marked "Do not clean"; Boss has been run, and I've built a Bashed Patch.

A google search told me to try to load all the mods into TES4Edit, which tells me that I'm missing "Francesco's Optional New Creatures Add-On.esm"

I don't see that in "Francesco's Creatures and Items" installer, so I'll check the Nexus for Franscesco's related stuff.

Edit: Ok, so it is a part of Francescos mod; it's just not installed by the wizard. Wat?

Maybe the problem is that I combined V5B1 with V5B2? Seemed the logical thing to do with an update... I'll try installing them separately...

Edit2: Last time, I used "Select All" when loading in TES4Edit. This time, I just went with its selection, which doesn't seem to include stuff used by Bashed Patch. It all loaded, so I'm running a conflict filter on it.

Not sure what I'll do with the results, but maybe I'll see something useful.

Edit3: Yeah, uh, I have no idea what to do with it. It's a mass of colours with no clue what to do with it. I mean, the information page tells me what the colours mean, but that doesn't tell me what to do about them. :/

Oh, and I've got a few custom BOSS rules, because previous to adding Oblivion Reloaded, loading those mods wasn't working without them. I should probably post those, so here they are:

Had time to work on this again. :)

Ok, so the thing is, I can load them up in TES4Edit, and I can filter for critical items, but I don't know how to tell which items are actually "bad" or need fixing. Some more google searching might tell me.

It turns out MMM wasn't properly installed; fixed that. MMM also wanted a couple of compatibility patches, one of which was "The Heath", but I have no idea where they can be found. Not in Unique Landscapes patches; not in FCOM Optional Add-Ons; not anywhere I've looked. Fixed a couple other things (uninstalled Enhanced Camera, because Oblivion Reloaded has its own; fixed something else). Still crashes.

Anyway, I'll edit the current mod list into the first post.

I guess you followed the installation instructions in https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/17784.

I myself used MMM 37 (some time ago), without any problems, especially with no need to install "The Heath", whatever that is. But then I didn't use many other mods (only UOP, OOO and Lore Creatures, if I remember correctly, I'm not sure about SI).

I am currently in the process of preparing to re-install mods incrementally. And thank you; sleepy me missed that section.
So I re-installed down to and including *"FCOM". Anyway, now it's crashing on Oblivion startup. Turns out, OBSI.ini has an "enable crash dump" option. Crash .dmp file says "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access."

Edit: Oblivion.exe is reported as the source of the error. 4GB patch has been unapplied by verifying local files, and re-copying the OBSE .exe and .dlls. This did not fix the error.

Same error in the crash .dmp each time, AFAICT.

It has been over two weeks since I asked for help, and only one person showed up. Thank you, Greywolf1.

Why? I am hurt, and confused, and frankly, more than a little angry.

I am obviously not sitting around waiting for other people to solve it. I can't see all the problems here; I am only one person. I don't have much time to work on this, and I'd really like to get to playing. And I know I'm not the only person on here with a long or complex modlist.

I've noticed your thread and I've skimmed through it when you updated it. The mod conflict seems like a rather complex problem to solve, but personally, I really know nothing about it. From the whole TES series, I only occasionally play Morrowind on which I run like 3 mods (for bugfixing, the Master-Propylon-Index and a spell).
I can't tell for certain, but I would imagine the reason that there is little feedback is that the biggest part of the GOG community either couldn't solve the problem or has no idea how they would even start solving this mod conflict. (When I saw Greywolf1's link to the Oblivion Mod Conflict Detector the first thing I did was add it to my bookmarks for future reference.)

As I said: I'm not very familiar with this topic, but there might be people in Bethesda's forums or in the forums of sites that host the mods that might be more help to you - provided you haven't already tried those.

I guess most people are simply frightened off by your modlist. To be honest, my first reaction, when I read your original post, was "how can he expect so many mods to work together?" (and the second one was "what does he need so many mods for?", but that's not for me to judge). And I just glanced over the modlist quickly, without giving it detailed thoughts. Bear in mind that most mod creators don't worry much about compatibility (some, not all, give warnings what kind of incompatibilities are to be expected), nor are there any standards concerning mod design (and you never know how computer literate or illiterate a mod creator is).

In another thread you talked about installing mods incrementally, which is a good idea. Apply a mod, test it, and back it up, if it works. If not, try to find out what's wrong (using the Oblivion Construction Set, a mod conflict detector, internet searches or other means) and restore the previous backup, if you can't find a solution. Try again with a different mod, etc...
In this way you should be able to isolate the troublemakers, and it's also easier to describe a problem on the forum and more likely to get help here. Important: Document what you are doing and what a backup contains, and don't delete your backups before you have arrived at a satisfactory set of mods, as you might want to try a different mod implementation sequence.
Regarding the sequence of the incremental mod installations, there are many possibilities. I would either go for personal priorities, or for mods which are known for being compatible in principle first (like the unofficial patches and the mods of the FCOM Convergence project).
If you are seriously determined to go through such a process, I wish you good luck. I myself probably wouldn't have the stamina to do it, and settle for a smaller, easier manageable mod list. But then, if you like problem solving, then it might be an exciting experience, and it's certainly more interesting to "play" this "game" (problem solving) than to play boring computer games - and cheaper than to invest in new ones :-).

HeartsAndRainbows: I've noticed your thread and I've skimmed through it when you updated it. The mod conflict seems like a rather complex problem to solve, but personally, I really know nothing about it. From the whole TES series, I only occasionally play Morrowind on which I run like 3 mods (for bugfixing, the Master-Propylon-Index and a spell).
I can't tell for certain, but I would imagine the reason that there is little feedback is that the biggest part of the GOG community either couldn't solve the problem or has no idea how they would even start solving this mod conflict. (When I saw Greywolf1's link to the Oblivion Mod Conflict Detector the first thing I did was add it to my bookmarks for future reference.)

As I said: I'm not very familiar with this topic, but there might be people in Bethesda's forums or in the forums of sites that host the mods that might be more help to you - provided you haven't already tried those.

Thanks. I...have had some rather strangely bad experiences online. Or badly strange? Both? Part of the problem is that, being autistic, I have trouble "getting subtext", so people can see weird things in what I post that I have no idea are there. And the other part is, I can (and do) entirely miss other people's subtext. And the other part of it is, I only recently found out I'm autistic, so it just looked to me like occasionally someone would randomly decide to hate me or something odd like that.

Anyway, yeah, I think I need a specialized forum.

The entire game folder, the Oblivion "My Games" folder, and all mod folders are under the same .git version control through the magic of shortcuts, so I can basically pull in anything I've got committed.
