I've noticed that with all the other modern Bethesda Fallout and Elderscrolls games, GOG's version has packaged the creation kit designed for them with the game. However, Skyrim appears to be missing it. I attempted to use the Steam version, but unfortunately it expects to be in the same folder as the game and manually copying it over will then present DRM errors. As there is no web site download for the creation kit, will a DRM-free version of it be provided in a future update to the GOG version of the game?

I second this question. My enjoyment of Elder Scrolls games comes mostly from the construction set/creation Kit. I was surprised to not find it included here.

You can install Skyrim Steam Creation Kit on Skyrim GOG, it will work as long as you have a steam_api64.dll there too.

steam_api64.dll is kind of a "generic" file, it's not tied to games or ownership itself, it's tied to versions, Creation Kit SSE 64bits expects version "2.48.45.4".
SSE64bits and Fallout 4 = DLL is exactly the same version, so both will work.

Does anyone know any free to play 64bits game/demo on Steam that comes with steam_api64.dll 2.48.45.4? it doesn't have to be a Bethesda game.

Fallout Shelter ships with steam_api64.dll 3.75.32.7... it was pretty close, but I don't think it will work.

This .DLL can be easily found on the internet, but of course, it can be a malicious file, so I don't recommend it unless you trust it.
Afraid it doesn't work unless you ALSO have Steam's version of Skyrim installed. So no, this isn't a solution.

It shouldn't be necessary, really.
If you have steam_api64.dll.DLL, CreationKit.exe, and SkyrimSE.exe in the same folder, Creation Kit should work (you still need to launch it from Steam).

I think the "SteamVR Performance Test" software (free, doesn't require a VR device) ship with that same steam_api64.dll v2.48.45.4 as well.

And what I'm telling you is, it isn't working. The ONLY thing that works is actually installing the game on Steam, which isn't what GOG wants. GOG just needs to add it to the install the same way they did with every past creation kit for other Bethesda games.

Yeah, that would be ideal.
I'm afraid that a new version of the Creation Kit for GOG would mean that Creation Kit fixes 3.2/3.3 may won't work on it. CK without CK fixes is... hard to deal with it.

I just noticed that CK fixes 3.3 has an optional drm-free executable, have you tried it? (you may need to rename it to CreationKit.exe).

This worked for me!! Thank you so much.

Note: you will also need tbb.dll and tbbmalloc.dll from here to get it working:

Has anyone reported the issue to GOG (and received a reply)?

Wait, this isn't how you report this?

??? It just went through my mind that no participant of this discussion said anything about GOG's position, or justification for not making the kit available. I also assume that probably someone did ask GOG already and could inform the community.
It's not my issue.

Hello,

Thank you for your message and I apologize for late reply.

Unfortunately, there are no immediate plans to include Skyrim Creation Kit to GOG.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

With what Katar10 posted, Skyrim belongs in the list of Games that treat GOG customers as second class citizens
I have sent a mail to bethesda, we will see their answer.
