gogtrial34987: (Of course, since I'm on Linux, and thus only have offline installers available, I'm still on 0.385.7.)
avatar
koderski: I am always uploading builds simultaneously for all the platforms, if it's available on Windows it's also available on Linux and Mac.

You should now have 0.385.26 available in Master branch and 0.386.0 in Experimental. Please check if you are not hit by browser cache here.
Browser cache is definitely not the issue here. Lack of Galaxy for Linux is the issue, as that means I have to wait for the offline installers to update.

When offline installers get updated, gog gives them a "blue dot" in the account screen, there'll be an "X updated" notification in the header (where it says: "MY COLLECTION (15)" for you), and they show up in the "updated" filter. Nothing like that has shown up for your game yet. foxgog in comment #11 above also noted this. (There's also no "branches" available for non-galaxy users; we only have stable releases.)

According to https://docs.gog.com/offline-installers/ these builds should've automatically been built when you pushed to the Master branch.

So, the problem is probably on gog's end. I believe they do verification of builds and things, which tends to add a delay of a day or two (though not always, so there's more factors which I'm not aware of), but if we haven't seen new builds show up by tomorrow, it might be worth checking up on this with your gog contact, just in case you're missing a step somewhere?

FYI, offline installers are now updated to 0.385.26 as well.
So I just docked with my first station. This was actually quite easy, and the instructions from the quest line helped - they just came at a point in the dialogue where before I hadn't gone.

Possible bug however: The station asked for 1000kg of Paladium, in exchange for E$ 12k or thereabouts (I know for certain, since I didn't have enough, and first had to mine a bit). But when I docked, all of my processed Vanadium started being turned into money. Something on the order of E$ 150k. I honestly don't know if any of my Paladium also disappeared.

Was hard to refind the station, too, after mining. I almost had to plot a course (for a measely 7km), but in the end got there through triangulation from the "plot a course" screen. You'd think that an astrogator could put some kind of indicator on the local lidar map for relatively stable objects like that, particularly when they're close enough that you could probably still spot them with the naked eye. :)

Also found my second derelict ship, and this time I was properly equipped to bring it home, where I sold it for a sweet million and loose change. Felt like quite a lot, but maybe the RNG gods were just with me today.

Have seen quite a lot of quest progress with my various crew members, but still nothing which feels like a main quest. If all questing is happening through crew members, however, then the desire to see it all runs counter to the investment in their experience. I'm getting attached to these people who leveled up from self-taught beginners to their current experienced incarnation (and really felt it when Dwight left me and I could no longer keep my ship in top shape). I guess it makes a next run with a different ship and crew distinct enough to be worthwhile, though, so that's good!

Hello gogtrial34987!

Thank you for the notification!
It is time to dive back into the rings, now.

Another thank you for both to koderski and Adrian__W, as well as the GOG.com team to make the update available as offline installer, too.

Kind regards,

dV Logs and Save

I now have a massive framerate drop the moment I load my save. This happened after salvaging a ship and going to the Dealer screen. The ship has since been sold, but I still have the framerate issue. The Engine logs now spam a set of messages I didn't see much of before. Not sure what I broke.

EDIT: I remembered the Experimental channel and tried that build. The framerate is normal for me now.

I had a variation of this again, and I think there's two issues:
1) The station's requests don't persist long enough. Same thing, Paladium was requested, I didn't have any yet, tell them I'll go mine some, I return, and now they're no longer interested in Paladium - this time I got a new communication from them, explicitly asking for Vanadium.
(Similarly, their answers to what they know in the quest about the sister don't persist long enough; first time she had a platinum membership, but wasn't there - second time she had left a few days ago and had left me a message. The only thing I did in between was mining Paladium.)
2) The new request for Vanadium was for 1000kg. Despite that, _all_ my Vanadium (well over 5000kg) was taken.

1) Are you sure it's the same station? The request should persist for at least few hours in-game time. If it doesn't, please post logs so I can figure out that went wrong.
2) Stations never request specific amounts of mineral, they just tell you how much will they pay for 1000kg of it.

Yes, I'm sure. Based on my experience last time, I made certain to fly only straight to the right while mining so I would be able to easily refind the station (and really didn't go very far). I'll dig up the logs tonight.

Ah, ok - I misread that, then. I guess I'm too used to RPG quests where you always have to get a specific amount of something. :)

Hello koderski!

Thank you for the newly updated offline installers! (Currently, there is the version 0.387.7 available.)

May I ask, what is more recommended for use with the offline installer packages:
- installing the update(s) directly over a current installation of the game,
- or uninstalling it first and do a clean re-installation?

Thank you for your continuing support and communication with us here on GOG.com's forum!

Kind regards,
foxgog

Best option is to use the client to download, since the update itself usually is smaller than 15MB. If you can't do that there is no difference when using the offline installers, you can just install the next version over previous one.
Seeing bug reports and feedback from this very thread leading to changes in the latest update makes me very happy. Massive kudos for being so responsive!

Some general notes on how I'm experiencing the game at this point. My crew are all master/expert now, and I've amassed 5.9M in funds (aiming for the 9M ship), doing 2 dives most evenings and hauling 200-350k in an average dive depending on lifepod encounters and how well I can avoid/recognize pirates, though something like 2.4M of those funds came from just two derelict ships which I brought home.

In general, I'm really loathing pirates. I can fight them off well enough, but they somehow always damage my reactor enough that I'm leaking, having my fuel reserves depleting rapidly. Usually this means I have to head straight home, and don't have the time to watch the pirate ship explode / pick up their lifepod, which I find quite frustrating, particularly if I've only barely started filling my hold.
I probably should invest in some repair drones or defensive measures, but I really like my current loadout consisting of mass driver, salvage arm and extra storage space - and so what I mostly find myself annoyed by is my inability to recognize when I'm actually dealing with pirates until they start shooting (I don't mind the ones that try to extort me nearly as much). Just now I had two different bounty hunter ships appear right after each other; after talking with the first, I assumed the second must be a baddy, and started pre-emptively firing - but nope - it promptly demanded a 10k bounty for damaging their ship!
Some visual indicator of pirateness - either on the map, or on the ship - might be nice? Though I understand if that doesn't fit with the vision for the game.

I also wish progress with the quests was more obvious. Maybe optional chatter/dialogues with your crew when at the station, or something, so you know what their current objective is / where you're at with them, or the barest hint at what sort of encounter(s) might make things progress? This might be colored due to me grokking a bit more about the quest system from looking at the log files, but for example with ...

*SPOILERS*

... the sister questline, it was obvious what the code stood for, but not at all how I could find it, so a dialogue tree leading to a hint about visiting another station might've been nice? And I saw in the logs that apparently now (at 5 points), I could progress through a lifepod, but there's absolutely no hint about this in game - nor any visible progress / dialogue options / whatever suggesting how the quest could progress; best I know in-game, I'm looking for the spaceship she took when she left the station, but unlike with the child questline, I can't ask anyone about that spaceship.

The other two people I have on board have the android and need money questlines, and while the former keeps hacking pirates all over the place, the latter hasn't asked for a raise in a long time - yet I don't seem to be making any kind of progress with either of them.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing the update tomorrow. Will make a point of it to start with a new ship for the expanded tutorial. :)

Ah, yes. This is an unfortunate drawback of not using any DRM ;)

There are multiple ways of dealing with these guys, some of them you noted already. You might also like point defence microwaves - they are pretty decent at incapacitating any incoming ships.

There is one, and it's even now explicitly covered in the tutorial. If you see no transponder that probably means ship is up to no good.

I agree, however, the most recent community vote back at discord.gg/dv put story expansion on 4th place, with gameplay enhancements, more upgrades and better performance in front of them. The next vote should be held next week so it's a good opportunity to affect what I'm focusing on then.

But soooo slow at breaking up rocks! Need moar hardpoints! :)

I did actually know that through the chatter with other ships, but actually noticing that in time just doesn't seem to work for me - I guess mostly because absence on the lidar means I'm only noticing the ship when it's right in my face, and then the distance my eyes have to move to the lidar is too great? (maybe with a different HUD? something to try, I guess...)

Discord is a no-go for me due to their phonenumber requirement, alas, but consider me a vote for "let the devs focus where they think they should" anyway, since you have a much better overview than I have. I'll simply trust that all necessary story work will be done before a 1.0 version. :)
