s3rialthrill3r: Is the AI really that bad in the DOS version? If it really was, then how did this become popular in the first place? Or did nobody give a damn about Dungeon Keeper until the "fixed" Windows version was available?
I dunno, maybe it was just broken under certain versions of MS DOS (MS DOS 7.1 and 8)? Or it was only broken when running the DOS version within Windows 98/98se/ME instead of within a complete proper DOS environment without Windows cruft messing about with stuff.

Gog.com advertises this package as containing Deeper Dungeons. If they are unplayable then that is false advertising. This game was always a bit buggy. They should re-release the best version.

I quote from the Dungeon Keeper page:
Includes Dungeon Keeper and the Deeper Dungeons expansion.
It's in bold on the page. One of the comments says no Deeper Dungeons.

What are you talking about? Deeper Dungeons was added a few weeks ago. The comment is likely older than that, no?
Any further news on getting the full "DK Gold with Deeper Dungeons + Level Editor" edition in its Windows rather than DOS incarnation? It should be playable without a DOS emulator...

Everyone should just install KeeperFX if they're unhappy with the DOS version. It is especially good because it contains bug fixes and allows higher screen resolutions.

Instructions are available here

The Windows version runs way better in my WinXP and has D3D with anti aliasing and anisotropic filter as an option too, so why is it not included? I was really disappointed to see, that the version I bought on GoG is so much inferior to my old DK-Gold CD.
Even people using Win7/Win8 have ways making the windows version playable, if Gog.com is too lazy to update the games properly (Omg, real work!). Relying on the work of others like Dosbox, ScummVM and some game engine recreations is so lame and the last time I tried KeeperFX on my WinXP it did not work properly.

Even if it's true what they say (Gog.com being just some script kiddies and no real programmers), at least all the files could be included to let people handle their stuff themselves (same with the already existing but not included Linux versions of the indie games and Linux compatible archives/installers).

so antagonism, very rage

you've got your precious superior version so why are you even complaining? and if you are lording about your abilities as a programmer (which i assume from the derogatory script kiddies remark), why don't you find some way to integrate those features into KeeperFX or something? show us what you really got!

otherwise i'd say keep the spiteful attitude to yourself as it's not constructive in the slightest.
I paid for it and the team always states, how great and important their technical support is and that the don't upload the linux versions, because they don't know jack about it and only make stuff available that is properly supported by them, this does not include Windows either, as it seems.

Are you from the team trying to make me silent in a disguised social way?
Negative critics are constructive too, they show what could be improved while others just leave and spend their money elsewhere, but the approach to critics from the team is so awkward, that people either get into ranting or just do not spend money here anymore, I know lots of former customers here.
It wouldn't hurt to release the Windows versions for stuff that is only available for Dos here and it's exactly the same with the Linux versions.
It's just not there and you have to get these data somewhere else, but only see if it's the Dos or the Windows Version if you read carefully through the ratings before buying.
Sim City 2000 is another example where you get the dos version while there is a Windows version.
Having to ask customers to know what you get after paying is so wrong.

GOG were right to go with the DOS version, because it is the most stable and compatible version. DOSBox is also multi-platform supported.

I'll say it again, download the newest KeeperFX. It has widescreen resolution support and contains a completely rewritten game engine. The developers update it every few days, so depending on when you last tried it, any problems you previously experienced have probably been fixed, or they have been discussed in my thread.

They also have a support forum http://keeperklan.com/forums/52-KeeperFX

You already have your old DK-Gold CD, and if that works well enough for you, there really isn't anything to complain about.

I think the GOG Team should add the Windows version of Dungeon Keeper 1 as an optional download (as they did with the Windows version of HoMM 2). Either in the form of an installer or of an ISO image.

This way everyone should be happy. :)

You, Sir, are rude and ungrateful. On one hand gog works really hard on bringing back the classics back from legal limbo sometimes (System Shock 2 comes to mind), in a customer respecting form (DRM free), even cheap and with extra goodies. On the other hand they indeed fix and patch problems. For instance they developed a shim library to solve the audio track problem (expected to be on CD) for digital downloads.

I wouldn't mind the windows version as optional bonus package.
But, there could be also legal problems as reason why it is not available...GOG really tries to make their releases legal-wise bulletproof and distribute only the undebatable parts they are allowed to. Maybe they plainly don't got the Windows version from EA...
But, all speculations, we have to wait for a "blue" answer :)

I hope legal issues aren't the problem here. And if GOG.com is worrying about the stability of such a version, they can always state that this unsupported optional download.

I've already voted. :)
I voted, but I still firmly believe that the D3D version looks considerably worse compared to playing the DOS version in 640 x 400.

The textures are blurred, and there are missing visual effects.

It is fair to ask GOG for both versions though, because some people have only played the D3D version and that is simply what they prefer.

Yes I was on that day, sorry for that.
It was caused by some strange statements from the team and frustration about another DosBox package that didn't run well at all on my systems, while the Windows version does.
