Raze_Larian: There is an update to fix the music bug (music not changing properly when moving between some regions, or certain pieces not playing, etc).
Until GOG releases an official patch (don't know if one is planned), you can download the updated files (div.exe, DivDialogSystem.dll, OsirisDLL.dll) from this
Dropbox page and place them in the 'Divine Divinity' install folder. You can click on each of the files to download them individually, or there is a button at the top of the page to download them as a zip file, or add to your own Dropbox account (if you have one).
Here is an alternate download, in a 7-Zip
.7z archive (915KB).
The 1.006 version from the 7-zip file always crashes immediately and will not run. The readme in the 1.005 version states that the 1.005 version is actually version 1.4. Confusing, to say the least...;)
I have tried running the 1006 divine executable under every compatibility mode offered by Win8Pro x64, and run the file with and without admin permissions--still crashes immediately. I'm asked if I'd like to reset the configuration and whether I do or don't the game still crashes immediately and never runs--ie, never gets far enough to put up the loading progress bar before it crashes.
1.005 (1.4?) is running OK, I suppose. Still somewhat buggy in the sporadic frame-rate lags and so forth.
