Raze_Larian: There is an update to fix the music bug (music not changing properly when moving between some regions, or certain pieces not playing, etc).

Until GOG releases an official patch (don't know if one is planned), you can download the updated files (div.exe, DivDialogSystem.dll, OsirisDLL.dll) from this Dropbox page and place them in the 'Divine Divinity' install folder. You can click on each of the files to download them individually, or there is a button at the top of the page to download them as a zip file, or add to your own Dropbox account (if you have one).

Here is an alternate download, in a 7-Zip .7z archive (915KB).
thx for this fix! :)

Thank you!
I've got both but with all the disc the GOG version was seemingly so much more simple until I started hitting the bugs. You da man. :D
Awesome, who made this fix? Is it official?

Arthandas: Awesome, who made this fix? Is it official?
It is an official fix, directly from Larian (I only mirrored the files in case someone had a problem with the Dropbox page). I don't know if/when GOG will make an official patch, but the fix will eventually be packaged so the auto-patcher in the anthology release will download/install it, and it has already been released on Steam.

I already lost hope for the music fix. Thanks for sharing the great news :)

Are they by chance looking into any other bugs?

I don't know. Anything more elaborate, though, I assume would have to wait until one or both of the upcoming games are released, in order to have enough people free to spend time on QA, etc.

Thats great timing, I was going to start my first play through of DD shortly. I have loved what I've seen in the D:OS kickstarter (still debating backing) and remembered I grabbed the anthology on here a while back. Now to clear a few GB's of space.

The 1.006 version from the 7-zip file always crashes immediately and will not run. The readme in the 1.005 version states that the 1.005 version is actually version 1.4. Confusing, to say the least...;)

I have tried running the 1006 divine executable under every compatibility mode offered by Win8Pro x64, and run the file with and without admin permissions--still crashes immediately. I'm asked if I'd like to reset the configuration and whether I do or don't the game still crashes immediately and never runs--ie, never gets far enough to put up the loading progress bar before it crashes.

1.005 (1.4?) is running OK, I suppose. Still somewhat buggy in the sporadic frame-rate lags and so forth.

Win8 Pro x64
AMD 6300 6-core

I play divine divinity with music and sound just fine on XP sp 3 is there something I am missing?

If you haven't played the disc version of this game it may be easy to miss that you're not hearing the right music. There's something like 20 different music tracks that should be playing on the main overworld map alone, not including going underground into dungeons (which work ok).

Instead, there about 2-3 tracks that play in overworld in the digital releases, and they just repeat over and over instead of switching. It's not that there's no sound, it's just that the music doesn't change from area to area like it should.

OK and that is the only problem? there is no gameplay missing right? because if that is the case I will leave it alone if its only the music I can live with it I always turn it down anyway (not of just lower than voices and effects) so its really background music. I would of course like to have the full version but seeing as this game was a gift I will not complain and I can wait ;)

The readme file in the 1.005 version was not updated from the original download release (1.004) when the game was patched.

The music fix files are for the 1.006 version of the game. The source code for the changes in the 1.005 version were lost due to problems with some of the backups, and Larian had to re-do the widescreen and higher resolution support when they released DD on Steam (and also did some Win7 compatibility fixes and a couple other changes). GOG actually switched over to the 1.006 version when D2:DC was released here. Apparently there were enough changes that the update for 1.006 doesn't work with 1.005. You can re-download the installer from GOG to get the 1.006 version, though.

No, there is no missing gameplay. There are some minor bugfixes in the disk version lost in the download version, but there are generally other workarounds or fixes, if any are encountered. The disk version lacks support for widescreen resolutions or resolutions above 1024x768 (the game itself may be fine in higher resolutions, but opening the main map could cause the game to crash, the frequency of which was system and resolution dependent).

Eclipse: Hi guys, I see a lot of posts here saying this GOG version of the game is broken and has many new and old bugs, what are really those bugs?

I got this game way back when it released here on gog, as I've always been a fan, but I'd like to understand what are the problems with this version and if there's a way to patch it up.

Thanks a lot to all the ones who'll reply!
I've been encountering one bug with the Steam version (that I've read about occurring in the GoG version a well), and that's the odd colors and black screen bug. I've tried a number of fixes (disable alpha bit, use software rendering, set compatibility mode, etc), but none of them worked for me. I finally discovered a line in the config.div file that seems to have fixed the problem for me. It's the memory limit line.

Mine initially read memory limit 32, I changed it to read memory limit 64 (and I intend to test higher numbers later). Upon restarting the game, my graphical glitches had all disappeared. I've already posted this on the Steam forums, but I thought I should put it here, as well, for others who may be experiencing this problem. Hopefully it helps someone else.
