This is really unacceptable. I don't care if it is known, it wasn't known to me at time of purchase, so I am right to be upset.

I'm sorry GoG.
I see the entitled cry-babies are out of their prams and have lost their pacifiers. Not unexpected.
Kinda bummed out that my girlfriend and I planned our week around play tonight, but the versions are incompatible. It's not the end of the world, like, but v0v

You misspelled "paying costumers".

There's no reason to defend or attack anyone, users or corporations. GoG provides a service, and Steam provides another. I've just come to the realization that Steam's service fits my particular needs better than GoG's, and I'm sorry for that because I would like to support CD Projekt and the fellows over there.

I'll still keep using the service, just not for new games that my part-time business relies on.

benlz: Allowing developers to push their updates is a good idea, but many people like that GOG take time to test updates. This can bring problems for multiplayer games. I just entered this wish:
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/allow_developers_to_update_their_own_games_on_a_different_repository_source

EDIT: it seems that the patch is already out... how can we blame GOG? Just... how??? :D

saldite: Because it wasn't out when the rude dudes gave their 'tude.

But it does raise an interesting point with multiplayer games, since they'll usually have to be updated more simultaneously. I think having the idea of another repository, even if it's just for Galaxy for more direct, immediate updates, is a pretty alright idea. Push out a warning message that update choice isn't tested/fully verified by the GOG staff when the user opts into it.
It could work only with Galaxy really as GOG staff would still have to build the standalone installers. I'm sure some goggers who don't use Galaxy would complain about being threated second class citizens but I personally would not mind as at least that way we'd know patch has been updated and spend two months wondering wether or not it's coming here. Maybe it'd put some pressure for GOG devs to push standalone builds/pathces out as soon as possible too. ;-p

I posted this in my own topic, but as this topic is getting the same amount of posts, I might as well post it here too.

For others that have this problem and need a work-around without torrents, etc. If you are based on the same network/LAN as the other player. You can copy the GOG version over to the other pc and use that to play with.

You can launch the game via the executable in the "Shipping" folder.
E.g.: "C:\Games\Divinity - Original Sin Enhanced Edition\Shipping\EoCApp.exe"

GOG's version has a slightly different folder name by default, so you can just copy/paste it next to your Steam version.

It's a bit of a hassle, but at least it will allow you to play without getting patches from different locations.

I know this isn't a proper solution, and not really a solution at all if you play via the internet, but if it's LAN based gaming like I do, this isn't too bad in the meantime. It's mainly an issue while the game has just been released and will probably get quite a few updates in the next days.

And you misspelled "Waaaaaaaa!" :'0
I'm as eager as everyone here to get the latest patch(s), especially if I was playing with a friend on Steam, but this is just the way GOG works (Galaxy might alleviate this in future but is still relatively new compared to Steam). As has been mentioned multiple times developers press a button on Steam and a patch is uploaded, but here is the old fashioned way, with a personal touch.

Give it a little while and the patches will settle a bit, I'm am also happy that this game has been getting lots o' love lately..what with the new edition(free to original owners)...it's easy to forget I've got two games for the price of one..

Tony.

fratleyslaye: while one person released a torrent patcher for it by himself. For free. 20min after steam did. that is NOT the same compiler/patcher. Riiiiiight. You work for GoG without the support label? I got a response near immediately vi[a email; kudos for that. You can't act like they are working diligently though. that's crap.
Everybody knows Raze--you, otoh, nobody knows. What is your problem? In the old days we'd sometimes have to wait weeks for game patches that took months to develop, and the most common delivery route was floppy disk via snail mail--or a game magazine CD circular *next month*...;) And you're bitching about 20 minutes...? Unreal.
p.s. all of your responses suck. that's not opinion, they just outright suck.
I see.... you're just another attention whore, is what you are trying to say. OK, agreed...;)
1. what does it matter that steam allows developers to update directly?
Too bad, that you don't know...else you wouldn't have asked such a silly question.
2. no, man. i don't think you understand how video games work. It's not like this 400mb patch was insane, or adjusted ANYTHING. In fact, it only is a simple overwrite function. Again, your response sucks.
You're funny...you might be dangerous if you actually knew/understood anything...;)
3. i don't even have the ability to reply to this. fuck off and let us be upset at buying a game we cannot play(due to purchasing it on one site vice another.)
Exactly right--perfect response! You certainly don't have the ability to reply to his posts...(any of them) Lol...;)

Raze should get a medal from Larian for having to correspond with completely clueless people who think they know things they don't know at all...perhaps, even a Nobel Peace Prize for Raze.

Haha totally OT but looking at some of the more recent Nobel Peace laureates I'd say he deserves it more ^^

Anyway, my version just got patched. 720something MB, quite a bit.

Agreed! I think Larian should perform an awards ceremony and present Raze with the "Oakleaf Cluster of Valor" (or something similar) for duty "above and beyond" on behalf of Larian. (And you are so right about current recipients on the Nobel not deserving of it!) Some of the people who write thoughtless posts you'd just like to see choke on a peach pit, or something equally as rewarding...:D Grrrr-r-r-r-r-rrrr...:]
