I am really disappointed in this . Seems like the GOG version of this latest patch got all the changes that the Steam version did except for Apple Silicon support. I installed the patch and it still shows up as an Intel application on my M1 Mac.

What a joke
Surely you can do better GOG.
Yeah, this is quite disappointing. I won't bother buying a game from GOG again, it's quite representative of the contempt they have for their customers.

Any news on this issue?
Im also interested in native M1 version. Steam and AppStore have it. Why no gog?
There's new update v fb7938b1 from 08/12/2021 - still Intel only. I'm getting a refund, bought the game thinking it will be M1 this time, but no. GOG is terrible at updates.
It's still the Intel version unfortunately :/
I bought it few weeks ago and got a refund. The M1 version on the Mac App Store is on sale actually (4 euro more than the actual price of the GOG version ). It's a really good price, specially for the Mac App Store.

Damn and I paid the full price two weeks ago :D
Anyway - there's a new update on MAS:

1.504: Holiday updates, performance improvements, and bug fixes!

I'll check it out later today, but to be honest - I didn't see too much performance difference between Intel Rosetta and Arm native version so far.
Both make the M1 Max hot, battery goes down in about two hours when played unplugged. Not very impressive for such rather not-spectacular looking game.
Anyway - still GOG should provide the proper version, but it's a wide problem on almost if not all Mac games - you never know if they are Arm, Intel, 64bit, 32bit - it's a disaster and I will not buy any Mac game here anymore.

ED: I played some more and there actually is a difference now, seems to get less hot and performs noticeably better now.

ED2: Pro tip I found on some Mac gaming website: turn off Pro-motion and set the screen to 60hz prior to launching the game, to avoid the GPU getting unnecessarily hot.

FWIW I just got an update and after this update I'm seeing "Application (Universal)" in Get Info dialog

Yes, it's universal now. To run the M1 native version you have to start the game in Finder. If you start it via GOG Galaxy it will still run the Intel version, probably due to the integration in the galaxy client.

As for performance: I don't see a real difference in activity monitor between the Intel and M1 version.

Oh nice! Didn't know there was a difference, since I use Spotlight to launch games in most cases.

I didn't notice practical performance difference either, but I noticed that the fan didn't start working after playing for 20 minutes (I stopped playing after that) vs being pretty loud 5 minutes into game (Intel version) with the same settings, same level and all.
Glad to read that Disco Elysium is now available for M1 Mac from GOG.

Is there any way to get this game on M1 Mac, from GOG, without installing Rosetta? GOG Galaxy 2.0 requires Rosetta. TIA!

Certainly. You can download it from your account using any browser:

- Go to https://www.gog.com/account
- Find the "Disco Elysium - The Final Cut" game card, expand it
- Look for "DOWNLOAD OFFLINE BACKUP GAME INSTALLERS" and expand that section
- You'll see a link to the current installer (version: 9ea75212 right now, size: 8.7 GB)
- Download that, and when done - right click (or Control + click) the downloaded file and click "Open" from the context menu
- Follow the prompts of the installer and when done - look for the game in the folder you choose to install it to (/Applications by default)

Hope that helps!

Thanks very much for your reply! Your instructions are very clear and helpful, and I purchased Disco Elysium and gave them a try.

Unfortunately, the first thing to appear when I download and run disco_elysium_enUS_9ea75212_55689.pkg is the dialog indicating that Rosetta is required to install the Disco Elysium software.

That's a bummer - didn't know Installer requires Rosetta :-(

Perhaps you can try unpacking the .pkg file manually? I tried the following on my work Mac (Intel):

- open Terminal.app from the /Applications/Utilities folder
- you need to go to the folder where you've downloaded the .pkg file, let's say Downloads - 'cd Downloads' (if you're starting from your home directory)
- Following advices in this StackOverflow:
- 'pkgutil --expand disco_elysium_enUS_9ea75212_55689.pkg ./de' where ./de is the folder you want to extract it to. It'll be created for you
- go back to Finder and navigate to Downloads/de, you'll notice 'package.pkg' there
- Right click and "Show package contents"
- Drag Scripts/payload folder out (let's say to Downloads)
- rename 'payload' to 'Disco Elysium.app' (.app is important), confirm that you want to add an extension
- Drag/move 'Disco Elysium.app' (that has gained an icon and should look like an app) anywhere you want, e.g. /Applications
- Launch it from there

Hopefully 'pkgutil' doesn't require Rosetta as everything else is just macOS.

First hope was that an updated package had appeared on GoG. "...56555.pkg". Still required Rosetta to install, though. I, too, am confused by this requirement.

Then, followed the unpacking instructions and the game came right up with no mention of Rosetta! An excellent trade-off for a bit of command line work.

Thanks again for your time, research and help!
