Tracido: No fanatic puritan, you brought up porn
Trollcido, if I was a puritan, those Japanese porn games I mentioned would belong to a fully legitimate genre of video games that anybody could pick up at the local Walmart or something.
Besides, OP clearly complained about the censorship of the text "JOYBOY" and "JOYGIRL", also known as prostitutes. Notice how the very same screenshot they uploaded also contained the word "MEALS", yet nobody seems to care about that particular word. This is an obvious complaint about censorship of
sexual content, which, by definition is
pornographic:
por·nog·ra·phy (pôr-nŏg′rə-fē)
n.
1. Sexually explicit writing, images, video, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.
You claim to be from the United States, surely I don't need to teach you your own native language, do I?
It was also a very poor attempt at finding "censorship" where there is none. The game has plenty of NPCs clearly labelled with "JOYBOY" or "JOYGIRL".
Now, since you guys clearly have a very... unique... sense of logic, mind explaining why exactly CDPR would choose to "censor" some very obscure text on vending machines most people probably won't be paying attention to, instead of censoring the same text floating in an extremely obvious and prominent manner above NPC heads?
Tracido: and that it's the only alternative, not me.
Black-or-white fallacy. I presented porn as *one* alternative, not as "the only one".
But you're free to quote the part where I presented porn as the only possible alternative. Go on, I'm waiting.
s1drano: Occam's razor: "the simplest explanation is usually the right one."
Maybe there is no censorship. That'd be the simplest explanation for why some stuff is "censored" and some isn't.
The Witcher didn't portray penetration in its sex scenes either, and nobody cried "censorship" back then. Why should Cyberpunk 2077 be any different?
midrand: Because Witcher those cutscenes are done 10 times better than in this game.
Seriously, that's your argument?
As a game, Cyberpunk 2077 generally isn't as good as The Witcher. Does that mean the gameplay was somehow "censored", too? Interesting logic you have there.
For reference, here's the definition of
censor:
UK
to remove anything offensive from books, films, etc., or to remove parts considered unsuitable from private letters, especially ones sent during war or from a prison:
- The book was heavily censored when first published.
US
to remove parts of something, such as a book, movie, or letter, that you do not want someone to see or hear:
- She opposes efforts to censor the Internet.
I'm sure better gameplay would've been soooo offensive to some folk. Or maybe CDPR thinks "better gameplay" should remain a trade secret? Ooh, the conspiracies are writing themselves!
Jokes aside, you guys really need to calm down and start using those brains of yours. Unlike V, yours aren't melting through your noses and ears. So what's your excuse?
PS: It's pretty ironic how the ones demanding (more) adult content also happen to be the most immature on this thread... Are you sure you should be playing this game? I mean,
REALLY sure?
