This is sharing time.

I have been waiting for this game for a LONG time since it was announced.

I hope it will be absolutely amazing, and everything we've seen seems to show it will be.

My boss at work is a big fan too. I sometimes would walk past him while we're busy at work and whisper "CyberPunk" and he'd smile, or send him a ridiculous text about the game.

I know that Public Enemy said not to, but believe the hype! Its hard not to!
I try not to get into hype. look at No Man's sky

Look at Breath of the Wild.
Look at World of Warcraft.
Look at Halo 2.
Look at Grand Theft Auto 5.
Look at Bioshock.
Look at Metroid Prime.
Look at Bloodborne.
Look at Mass Effect 2.

Sure, I suppose you could dwell on failure and allow that to determine your outlook, and that is your prerogative.

I think it mostly depends on the people who are getting hyped about it, the main issue starts when people start getting this perfect image in their head of what the game is without actually listening to devs/publishers about what the actual game is and what it'll contain.
While there was some Peter Molyneux level shit going on with NMS, i personally think at least 50% of the reason people were disappointed was because some people were expecting the greatest video game of all time out of NMS without taking a look at certain things and keeping their expectations in check, like how the game was going to use procedural generation for almost everything (which usually ends with stuff feeling the same no matter what) and yet so many people seemed to be shocked by the fact that stuff got samey after the first 5 or so planets

Hopefully with the gameplay and the amount they have been talking about it in interviews it'll keep peoples expecations in check
tl;dr
I'd say a good portion of people getting disappointed after hyping shit up is due to them not controlling their imagination and letting their imagination go wild and become what they think the game is

Oh absolutely. I saw some very clear indications that most of NMS was going to be Hype. Whenever the Devs have interviews where they start promising the game will have EVERYTHING, then it likely will not. Happened with Eternal Crusade too.

The fact that CDPR has actually highlighted things the game won't have is promising rather than limiting. It means they have well defined scope.

Yup, and if people get disappointed because they expect the universe and everything in it with Cyberpunk, then it's their own damn fault

True. If you can't handle a preorder not being everything you want it to be, don't preorder.

and from the sound of that secret message recently + no greedy ass pre-order bonuses (like a bunch of missions or hideouts or whatever publishers will try to cut out to get pre-orders) they are perfectly fine and even promote not pre-ordering atm and waiting until you have seen more of the game and even reviews unless you wish to support them right now

I honestly agree with you in some ways, but I don't agree that misplaced hype was a large reason or only reason as to why no mans sky was so poorly accepted among many gamers. I think maybe they did too good of a job on advertising, and not enough on the actual gameplay. I was looking forward to no mans sky so much, but I was painfully let down by it because it didn't look and feel the way that all the trailers and gameplay shown ahead of release make it look and feel.

Im different than most people. sure I get excited on some games but the problem is that after I preordered NMS 1 days before release, I got fucked over. BTW, is that duckman on your display picture? cause that Everett peck's artstyle.

Also isn't that from that one cartoon/T.V. show? I can't remember the name of it but it was kind of intellectual and made you think, and the animation style reminded me of many old kids cartoons like real monsters/ rockos modern life/ rug rats/ angry beavers. I wonder if the same artists did all of them + the one you are talking about? Would be cool I think.

You mean Duckman? or Squirrelboy? both of which were made by the same person. And duckman IMHO is hilarious as hell.
