is there any chance to see a Mac port of Caesar 3 one day?
This question / problem has been solved by crazy_daveimage
Was one ever made ? If it wasn't made when Sierra Impressions existed, then there's zero chance of it being made now.

Well I was thinking that the ports of Dungeon Keeper or Theme Hospital didn't exist either, that they were made afterwards and that the same could happen for Caesar 3...
thank you for the reply!
Caesar 3 did have a classic version - maybe an OS X version, but I think it was classic. The classic version is unlikely to ever show up here.

However, if you'd like, you can do the port of Caesar 3 yourself. It's a very straightforward game to get working on your Mac. I've got it working on my Mac - the only thing I have trouble when I did it myself with is setting the highest resolution for the game doesn't seem to work but I think I've seen others solve that. It's not a big issue.

If you'd prefer not to do it yourself, Paul the Tall has a premade wrapper for the game (it is just the wrapper to get the game working on the Mac, not the game itself) with videos + instructions to get it working with the GOG version. He didn't report any issues.

You are very welcome - if you have any trouble running the game on the Mac just drop a line in the thread and if I can, I'll help out. If not, there are more knowledgeable forumers to whom you can appeal. :)

Hope you have no trouble, and lots of fun! :)

If you want to start porting your own GOG games, there is Rampancy's how-to thread:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_games_on_mac_os_x_a_how_to/page1

And how-to videos on Pall the Tall's website which I linked to earlier. Alternatively Pall the Tall has pre-made wrappers for many GOG games like the one for Caesar 3. Rampancy has a GOGmix for games easy to get working on OS X either in Boxer (the Mac version of DOSBox that GOG themselves use) or Wine:

Link is changed to http://www.paulthetall.com/caesar-3-mac.html
as all other links, dunno if you had more directlinking but those won't work anymore after changing gamepage names a few days ago.

enjoy

you are installing the game in your own wineskin wrapper or one of Pall the Tall's pre-made ones?

EDIT: I think I found the solution:

It seems to be an issue with GOG's new installers - this thread has a couple of work arounds.

Thank you! for the immediate replay I will post my solution, since i think more people might come up with this problem, and its not a serious one ,unless you are a total amateur like me.
So, the problem is this gdiplus.dll file is missing from the wineskin.app. There is an option to install it though, by clicking advanced options on the caesarIII.app provided by paul the tall (after you install it on your mac of course).
In the options click tools, then pick winetricks
from there pick dll, then tick on the gdiplus box. and hit run.
It will try to install it, but a file is missing, which you can download from various sites, even microsoft's.

You are then supposed to place this .exe file in a specific directory, written to you by the winetricks tool at your first failed attempt.
The problem is, that in Mac OS X 10.7 and later(i think) the Library folder on your Users/Username directory
is hidden, so i had to unhide it from a Terminal command in order to access the directory in which i will place this exe.
and for that i did what this guy says (its just a command on the terminal):
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/

I bet there is a way to bypass this step, caused mostly at my ignorance since, I was trying to find this directory folder manually.
Runs great.Only noticed some in-constituency with the tapping of the trackpad, (not the clicking though).
I updated the wrapper. It has to do with the new installer of gog.com, but new wrapper fixed it. get the new wrapper up here: http://www.paulthetall.com/caesar-3-mac.html
cool, glad there's a working workaround! :)
Hey Crazy Dave, A quick question for you...

First, thanks for the port. I just introduced my 7 year old son to this game and he's all over it. Our problem is that once you finish the first settlement, it tells you to right click to proceed. Since I'm on a MBP and using the trackpad, that's not an option. Oddly, command clicking doesn't seem to do the trick either.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried control+clicking? Control + click can be used for right click. I thought there was an option to turn it into command+click in Wineskin, but it seems that is only for option+click to turn into alt+click. So try control+click.

Sorry, I meant control+clicking. Not Command.

I just tried it again and it doesn't seem to do anything. It's kind of odd. I'm not sure why it wouldn't recognize the control+clicking as right clicking, but it doesn't seem to. Wish I had a PC mouse hanging around so I could give it a try with that.

Any other thoughts?
