crazy_dave: you are installing the game in your own wineskin wrapper or one of Pall the Tall's pre-made ones?
EDIT: I think I found the solution:
http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=917512 It seems to be an issue with GOG's new installers - this thread has a couple of work arounds.
Thank you! for the immediate replay I will post my solution, since i think more people might come up with this problem, and its not a serious one ,unless you are a total amateur like me.
So, the problem is this gdiplus.dll file is missing from the wineskin.app. There is an option to install it though, by clicking advanced options on the caesarIII.app provided by paul the tall (after you install it on your mac of course).
In the options click tools, then pick winetricks
from there pick dll, then tick on the gdiplus box. and hit run.
It will try to install it, but a file is missing, which you can download from various sites, even microsoft's.
You are then supposed to place this .exe file in a specific directory, written to you by the winetricks tool at your first failed attempt.
The problem is, that in Mac OS X 10.7 and later(i think) the Library folder on your Users/Username directory
is hidden, so i had to unhide it from a Terminal command in order to access the directory in which i will place this exe.
and for that i did what this guy says (its just a command on the terminal):
http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
I bet there is a way to bypass this step, caused mostly at my ignorance since, I was trying to find this directory folder manually.
Runs great.Only noticed some in-constituency with the tapping of the trackpad, (not the clicking though).
