Rebooter: I just bought this from GOG, and I'm having the 'MFC' crash as well. Windows 7 64-bit. I tried all of the tweaks from some of the other posts here (no DX6 commands, run as admin, take full control, compatibility modes, play at default resolution) but I still get the crashes, mostly at level change or when saving/loading. It looks like people have been reporting this for a good amount of time and GOG isn't responding, so it looks like they don't have a solution.
Has anyone tried running this in a virtual machine (VMWare, etc)? I will try this myself and see what happens.
Kil3r: Can you give me a link to a free version of VMWare and win 95\98 or whatever os you use? Only if its legal of course
I think there are a couple of free ones, but VMWare is trialware. One free one (I haven't tried it yet, is VMLite. It is supposed to offer 3D graphic acceleration in its emulated OS's:

Not sure about the actual image, it might b able to create one from an install disc or ISO of one.
Another free one is VirtualBox:

VMWare Workstation (Trial Version):

I am going to try it in VMWare, but I need to make a new VM for it.
I have a dual-boot setup on my system now with both Win XP and Windows 7. I installed Blood 2 in Windows XP and set the Blood2.exe and Client.exe for Windows 98 compatibility. It seems much more stable.
I also found (as others have) that I can't run it at the max (native) resolution of my monitor. I have to always start the game at 640x480, load a save, then increase the resolution to something below the maximum. If I use the max rez of my monitor, it will always crash on level change or when loading from a save.
It seems the key to getting it to work is Windows XP and not maxing the resolution. I want to be able to run in in a VM so I don't have to reboot to XP, so I will experiment with that soon.
It seems that the problems with this game are common for a lot of the old Lithtech engine games. Searching Google shows Tron 2.0, No One Lives Forever and AvP have this issue for a lot of people as well.
