Gettin the same problem I am having. I have been trying to get gog's attention on this for around 6 months now. Yeah thats right. this error has not been fixed for six months! WTF GOG!?!? Well im not gunna rage. I actually really wanna play this game so bad. Im sure you do too. Gog please fix this error. Your having a freakin sale with this broken game in it right now!
Well, i tried blood 2 under vista 32 and all is working, and since gog's version support only 32\64 vista i have no complaint.
I can launch the game, but within a couple minutes of starting the first level the game will crash with this error. Running in software-renderer seems to help, but then the game just looks AWFUL. I've tried setting the game to run as administrator and also used Win 95 and Win 98 compatibility modes, still no luck.

Hey! Me too! Im using Win7x64 by the way.

Im waiting for a fix or workaround (which GOG is suppose to provide as being a GOG game bought in GOG site...)
I just bought this from GOG, and I'm having the 'MFC' crash as well. Windows 7 64-bit. I tried all of the tweaks from some of the other posts here (no DX6 commands, run as admin, take full control, compatibility modes, play at default resolution) but I still get the crashes, mostly at level change or when saving/loading. It looks like people have been reporting this for a good amount of time and GOG isn't responding, so it looks like they don't have a solution.

Has anyone tried running this in a virtual machine (VMWare, etc)? I will try this myself and see what happens.

Can you give me a link to a free version of VMWare and win 95\98 or whatever os you use? Only if its legal of course

I think there are a couple of free ones, but VMWare is trialware. One free one (I haven't tried it yet, is VMLite. It is supposed to offer 3D graphic acceleration in its emulated OS's:

http://www.vmlite.com/

Not sure about the actual image, it might b able to create one from an install disc or ISO of one.

Another free one is VirtualBox:

http://www.virtualbox.org/

VMWare Workstation (Trial Version):

http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/

I am going to try it in VMWare, but I need to make a new VM for it.

I have a dual-boot setup on my system now with both Win XP and Windows 7. I installed Blood 2 in Windows XP and set the Blood2.exe and Client.exe for Windows 98 compatibility. It seems much more stable.

I also found (as others have) that I can't run it at the max (native) resolution of my monitor. I have to always start the game at 640x480, load a save, then increase the resolution to something below the maximum. If I use the max rez of my monitor, it will always crash on level change or when loading from a save.

It seems the key to getting it to work is Windows XP and not maxing the resolution. I want to be able to run in in a VM so I don't have to reboot to XP, so I will experiment with that soon.

It seems that the problems with this game are common for a lot of the old Lithtech engine games. Searching Google shows Tron 2.0, No One Lives Forever and AvP have this issue for a lot of people as well.

I had similar problems under Win7 x64. This is what fixed it for me

but this game is tooooo dark
First disable DirectX 6 commands. Resolution is irrelevant here. Just keep in mind that Blood 2 is not a very stable game. It will occasionally crash no matter what you do. But not often.

I got that too. Tried setting it to 1024x768 resolution and no problems at all now.
Looks like gog re-released archive, now its compatible with w7
I'm using Win 7 32-bit and it crashes on me too. Is there anything I could do to fix this?
how long until it works on windows 7 I'm not buying until it does fully work
