wh1tepointer: He never said the patch wont work with GOG. He just said he doesn't own the GOG version and doesn't want to buy it just for testing. I mean, he can't possibly know if the patch doesn't work on the GOG if he doesn't own the GOG version lol.
Petercage: the thread was asking for him to update it so it worked for the GOG version. Implying it didn't. You have to read more than just what he wrote, he was responding to others. But again, if I'm wrong I'm wrong and I'm not against being wrong.
There's only a few posts before Verok's on the topic. One asks him to update the patch but doesn't ask why (I'm guessing they just assumed it would need to be updated for the GOG version without actually testing it). Another simply asked if the same fixes would work in the GOG version. The only post that specifically mentions a problem raises the broken subtitles, which has been mentioned here already by KentGAllard.
At no point did anyone even imply that the patch does not work.
