umm, you haven't thought this through actually, they were bought by another company yes, but still their were previous agreements, Harebrained still exists right? yep.

IF you buy things and expect them to belong to you, and the person that sold them to you takes them back so you pay and have nothing to show, is that ethical? that's not sales, that is THEFT.

Before you complain abput something, you should inform yourself and contct the right people.
Google removed Shadowrun from Playstore as well as they did remove alot of other programs and games because of changed Terms of use (mostly because of new EU laws). HBS posted that they want to adjust the game, but well it is low priority and it takes some time and then the progress of reentering Playstore takes some time, too.

What you can and most likely should do, is contacting HBS and ask for a refund.

For me HBS made some games I personally do like and well, I am an old FASA fan and am happy Jordan did bring them back on conputer.

Pretty sure this is an issue of getting screwed by Google, not HBS, since that's where you bought the game from.

Yes it sucks they did that, which is why DRM sucks so badly.

Not sure how this is HBS's fault though. If you buy a Corvette from a dodgy car dealer, and he comes and repossesses your car (because he's an asshole or something, for the sake of example), would you then accuse GM of being thieves? I would suspect not, since doing so wouldn't make a lick of sense.

BTW did you attempt to get a refund (or better still, a GOG version) of any of HBS's games that you got screwed out of? I would be really surprised if HBS doesn't come out and do something of that sort, assuming you have adequate proof of purchase and some other legal issue isn't stopping them (which cannot be ruled out).

it has nothing to do with DRM, it has to do with the idea that when you sell something to someone it belongs to them, and if and when you take it away that's not sales, that is theft.

I had an issue with Auroch as well (chainsaw warrior etc) they offered me a steam key, I asked them to consider Gog, I hate steam really.

If the end users would all band together and start requesting such, maybe we could get this fixed, but so long as it is debt that backs currency, things will stay the same.

I trust Gog alot more than STEAM, more than Google today as well, but even they do deceptive things on occasion.

Blame Google and the EU laws. This is how Google works, when ever google drops a game from their service, they take the games away from everyone who bought it, they completely remove it from their servers so not even the previous buyers can still download it. Google does not do what Steam and GoG does, and that is leave the game on the servers for previous buyers to keep on playing the games they already bought.

HBS released these games to the Googleplay service long before the new EU laws were enacted. There is no way they could have predicted this to happen. The EU laws have really screwed over a lot of people and developers, and now developers are having to go through extensive reprogramming of their games all the while learning about these new laws with the EU which are very strict and carry very heavy fines if they mess up just one bit. And because the laws are so new, there is no presedence to give more proper meaning of the law which makes things all that much harder to become compliant with.
