Larian just dropped this:

Thanks.

Some of the fixes...

HIGHLIGHTS

The cross-save functionality will no longer sync modded saves, as they cannot be accessed by console players.

PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMISATION

Fixed an issue where switching between party members would cause performance to drop.
Consider waiting, or at least backing up your current installation before updating: This hotfix is being reported to break most (if not all) quest items.

On the plus side, the official forum is down again, so we are in no danger of getting exposed to problems of this patch.
really just a code change to inventory management

"And... done. Anyone want to test this thing out? No? Ah, whatever - go live with it! What's the worst that could happen?"

;)
No update for MacOS yet.
Larian Forum is accessible now and people complain that Hotfix #16 breaks the game in many places.

So I guess its a good thing if its not availble for MacOS.
it breaks the game in places that need you to use a special item like Shadowheart and her speer because yes 'kick it out the door untested' is the Larian way
Sadly, this Hotfix didn't solve my insane ctd problems again (which started to appear with a hotfix in Dezember).

The game crashes randomly every 5-10 minutes right now, so it's basically unplayable. Even a completely new character without any mods installed crashed my game today while starting to talk to Us. Didn't come far with this one.

My 2nd character Durge is never going to finish the game at this point, sigh

Have you tried to downgrade your game back to a version before the hotfix in December?

Having this game with GoG allows us to do this vs. Steam, where you are stuck with most updated version.

edit: If you saved the previous Install files

Thanks for the advice, I already tried this. I can go all the way back to the version from December 7th, but even that one crashes constantly. I also ran dxdiag and msched, but my system found no problems. Completely re-downloaded, re-installed, checked for errors via Galaxy, tried to disable the launcher, updated all my drivers, cleared my cache and shut down my anti-virus software and all other passive programs that ran in the background. Nothing reduced the crashes.

Some people in the official Larian forum also mentioned how this only started happening to them after they played quite a lot of hours of BG3. There's a thread where people describe the same problem I have as early as in September. I honestly give up at this point. Been playing PC games for around 20 years but never had such trouble with any game.

Looks like you know what you are doing. Sucks you haven't been able to get the game working.

While I commend Larian for bug fixing their game. There have been too many patches to keep track of what, where, and when that bug was fixed. Would have to dig back to find a possible issue. Too many possibilities.

IF you haven't done yet, try lowering your game settings to lowest and see if you still crash after 5-10 mins.
Have you tested your RAM?
