I just revised my Swirlmount map very extensively, including 120 custom items instead of the normal ones, a spellcasting V infantry hero in everyone's prison, a spellcasting V hero that should be available for recruitment instead of running off and being hostile, various minor fixes and terrain additions, all of the dungeons set to random defenders strength and loot, the recruitable t3s removed from the 4hex cities, minor guards added to all non-city flaggable structures.

So who wants to play a PBEm on the new version? 5 players, AoW1.
I'll join in
I'd like to be in too.

The mental image this invokes, especially when Southern is staring at what just happened, is incredibly funny to me.

One of the nearby eight city guards, a warlord, didn't do what his pals were doing - staying in the town. Instead he ran off through the teleporter, in the process crossing through the hex of the hero set to ''Refuge''. By doing so he converted him to his ai script because the game doesn't have the capacity for more than one ai script to be assigned to a given stack of units. Then they both absconded through the teleporter and sat in a tower at the other end, furiously defending the gateway. It's possible I could still recruit them, but because it's through a teleporter whose other end I lack vision of, the dialogue option can't be initated?

It took me a week to realise that must be what'd happened.

Iincidentally those 8-man tier 3 garrisons - in the surface capitals - were supposed to stay in 4 groups, such that the player would likely have to buy some and fight the remainder. It didn't turn out that way, and I never remembered to do the same for the underground capitals. So the map was very unbalanced, which is why i made a huge editing pass of it this week. Swirlmount PBEM 2 thread is created and the heavengames download entry is updated too.

That is even more hilarious.

The warlord is all "FTSIQ" and nopes right on out of dying in some stupid little town in Nowhereville, and he's all "Come with me if you want to live" to the hero, and the hero's all "My savior!" and tags along like a good little refugee.
> game doesn't have the capacity for more than one ai script to be assigned to a given stack of units

Interestingly, if you disband a unit near a stack of indies (in such a way that the unit joins them), that lone unit will act on its own and separate itself from the stack (but will draw the other units into combat). I saw the weirdest thing with the spell cast V hero for the Dwarves. It moved through the teleporter to another stack, set itself to guard with the rest of the new stack, and then at an arbitrary turn, moved off of the tower and changed the stack's behaviour to "fortified". I've never seen the "fortified" setting before, and it doesn't look like you can manually choose "fortified" in the editor.
I'll also join.
Ah so the spellcasters all migrated to the deep from the 4-square towns? That's funny. Maybe close by towers attract the AI scripts?

Yes the AIs are quite funny. Thereunto to complete your story, I don't think it was arbittrary. After going through my tower, I captured the dwarven town in the deep level but then left it unguarded, which set off the dwarven un-mounted hero with wall crushing to run towards it, carrying his team with him. I guess you were trying the teleporter right on that turn, or perhaps every turn. I then went back to the town and the hero decided to freeze there. Or maybe it's because of the script change to fortify.

For the others: now I recruited the azrac that was in his team, Dwarf of the Dwarves recruited the dwarves, and Glomm is left all alone fortified in front of the city... Until, I guess, I leave the city then he'd capture it? We have to test this. For science!

If we are the same players, should we just drop the unbalanced game start with the new map? (I am not advocating this, just checking what the others think)

Arnuz: dwarven un-mounted hero with wall crushing
I didn't give him wall crushing! These AI are crazy.

Still need one more guy, you interested Bookwyrm?

Eh, sure. What the heck. I'll join.
I'll do a double check before starting the game. Maybe add some spellcasting V chaps!
