coldalarm: A fraction of any site's userbase will be involved in decisions. But the game is DRM free. There is nothing here that stops you playing the game. The '3rd-party account' is in use to stop the multiplayer component being split by platform (which would result in Steam being the "only" platform if you wanted to play MP). Is that not acceptable?
GOG also notify you of this on the game's page, so I don't see what the issue is.
I like how people don't really seem to realize that a multiplayer game with *any* sort of platform will always have *some* form of centralized service behind it simply to create/negotiate accounts. Well ok, games newer than 2000, that is.
In other words, if it weren't the triumph account, then it'd be Steam.
Only, then we'd not have outside releases at all, or they couldn't play together. And, we'd all pay extra in the EU because Steam doesn't do anything about the price difference.
This is such a first world problem...
