Do you play the game without any mods? OR do you play the game with the Stalker Complete 2009?

http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009

OR do you play the game with another mod?

And what is your favorite weapon in the game?

Right now, I'm playing the game with Stalker Complete 2009. I think this mod makes the game 100 times better. Now the night's actually look like night time. The light and night vision isn't useless anymore. This makes the game so much more immersive. The A.I. is a lot smarter with this mod too. They shoot at you from behind cover now and throw grenades at you whenever possible. So this mod makes the combat more difficult but I don't mind at this point in time. I still found a huge bug that is annoying me though. In one the train cars, near the factory near the garbage, there is still a bandit standing frozen inside. The mod also makes it harder to see anomalies. This also makes the game harder and I wish I could remove this feature because I just find it too annoying to have to deal with hard to see anomalies.

Played the game with the Complete mod and it's okay, don't really understand why you find it harder as I thought the game was much easier with it and it felt like the balance was gone.
One thing I really didn't like in this mod was its excessive use of HDR which made midday look like one big bloomfest.

Next time I'll probably play it with the ZRP mod, but ultimately I hope for STALKER 2.

My favorite weapon? The unique doublebarreled shotgun, now if STALKER only featured mutated ducks and a pet pseudodog to fetch them.

I just realized, the mod doesn't really make the game's combat harder because of these features listed below.

- Early detection - Removed the ability for NPC's to notice you at unrealistically large distances.
- Death panic - Reduced the sound distance of death cries (in the original game it caused the entire camp to alert once one member was hit, as it was set to be heard at a great distance).
General rule is play the game clean. Then add mods for a second run. You can have multiple installs of SHOC.
I install and shoot.
When I am done, I download mod and install and shoot again!

I found it to be relatively Easy even on the Hardest difficulty setting! hunting for artefacts was a major pain in the ass though! the 2009 mod FIXED the stupid tree shadow and sun glare bug! and Gunfights Felt Like Gunfights

Good post. Was thinking to myself about having another run through, last time I played with Complete (all three of them), which was good. Have picked up a few others since though, thoughts on these:
**Edit**
Narodnaya Solijanka DMX 1.3.2
Have just installed and played with the above. It looks good, however it is bitch hard. If you like playing a game by going WTF, 2min reload, WTF, 2min reload then you will enjoy this (the 2min is because it takes a while to load).

Elite 8.1
Autumn Aurora 2

Have heard the above all vastly add to the game and make it harder?

Imo, if it is your first playthrough, you should use only the Zone Reclamation Project patch.
It corrects bugs and technical issues while retaining the vanilla gameplay. I used it, and I encountered almost no bugs and crashes: that should already tell you much.

I played it without mods. I really liked it that way. Favorite weapon was probably the SPAS. Excellent for killing mutants and Stalkers.
I wonder why, there are no non Ukrainians in the zone. Doesn't make sense. All the strange thngs in the zone would attract people from all over the world. I hope they fix this in the next Stalker game.

Actually, the mercs are supposed to be a mixed bunch as are the scientists, but due to the rush job getting the game out (thanks THQ!) a lot of details like that were left more as an afterthought - though theres still a fair bit of unused stuff (thats only otherwise been seen in mods and LA) if you dig through the data packs.

Okay but it would be cool if there is also a bunch of foreign Stalkers and merchants in the game.
Lets build a mod then.

that would absolutely ruin the lore and atmosphere.

the odd npc, yeah, that makes sense, but any more than that and its ridiculous - remember the zone isnt some internationally renowned thing, its very much a secret.
