One year has passed since the one the Orcs call the "Scourge from the West" came and single-handedly crushed the Orc Prides of Grushnak, Vor, Gorbat, and Rak'Shor. The Allied Kingdoms, now linked by farportal to their distant, long-lost Sunwall allies, have helped them conquer most of Var'Eyal. The few remnants of the ravaged Prides are caged... but one Pride remains. Kruk Pride, isolated on an island, is the last orcish settlement that stands; they, too, face their impending doom.

The Sunwall has blockaded the only exit point from the island, and now, the technologically advanced civilization of Steam Giants have come down from the mountains to take their homeland with machines and weaponry unlike anything else on Eyal. Kruk Pride has reverse-engineered their technology before; their only hope is to do it again and rise up against the Pride's foes.

Same game, more new adventures

Tales of Maj'Eyal: Embers of Rage(TOME:ROG) has the same gameplay mechanics and rich content as the base game, but adds more to the already packed base game. You start out with a few races and unlock others. New characters and enemies, stories, items and areas will suck up your time like the original game. The new unique class-types add another fresh experience with a non-cliche setting and story. Recommended to fans, but new players should try the base game first.

Time Devourer

Even though i have only played this for approximately one hour, i can already tell that this expansion will devour all my spare time. And one of the new classes, sawbutcher, may be the most innovative and fun class in the game so far. I would recommend this game to both veterans of Tales of Maj'Eyal and newcomers.

Above and beyond!

In the steaming pile of DLC we tend to see that adds next to nothing, Embers of Rage could easily have been a boilerplate Steampunk setting or a retread of annother successful Steampunk game (Arcanum and FFVI come to mind). Lo and behold, Darkgod's got the heart to give this expansion all the justice it rightfully deserves. There's also been some hinting around that Embers will be getting even more new content in version 1.6 of ToME. You don't really hear about DLC getting extra content years later, do you? Now that's bang for your buck!
