Show discount expiration time/date
+1 to this request
yes please.
it's annoying to have to go to my emails to check when a sale will end
Too bad I can't edit the earlier comment.
There is a way to know when the discount ends. You need to have the game to your wishlist and allow wishlist notification emails. Then you will get an email with all the games from your wishlist that are discounted at the time with the duration of the discount stated next to them. It works even when you wishlist a game after a discount started.
But it is far from ideal and pretty obscure, I didn't know about it until I missed the discount period and searched for why doesn't GOG just show the duration on the store, so too late. The duration should still be definitely clearly visible on a game's store page, every other store I know of shows it. It makes no sense.
I barely tolerate temporary sales during which a person often buys more than they originally intended because of FOMO.
But not knowing when the sale ends is even worse.
I refuse to be trained to buy ASAP when a game is on sale without being able to think the purchase through, just no.
Now I can either go buy the game I wanted on a storefront that still has the game on sale (which wouldn't matter much if I knew when the sale would have ended here) and shows how long the sale will last down to a minute (days would be sufficient} or just not buy at all because missing the sale on a platform I would have preferred (because I had no way to know the sale will end sooner here than on the other platform) left a bad feeling about buying and playing games in general...
Yes, please do this as you (GOG) are losing money. I often hold out until the last possible moment of a sell in order to weigh my decisions. Man times, however, the games disappear before the sale is over. So fix it, and get more money, or leave it that way and be broken as usual.
Here to add a comment to this list in hopes the number will eventually get big enough that GOG will add this basic feature that even the greediest companies' storefronts have.
I agree that they should show a discount expiration time/date on games. I missed a discount sale on a game I was planning to buy because I wasn't aware that the discount sale was going to end x.x
I join this 6 years long request (just to add that so we can know by now, this will never be implemented, god knows why). But Link_Knight7 said in the wishlist there is this information... I've been looking at the damn wishlist all day and I can't find it! O.O
I also request this!
I know I can look at my wishlist and see this information, but on the game page, it's not there at all.
Yes, the emails they send out has this info, in TINY print at bottom of them. but would LOVE to have this on the game pages as well.
Still wondering why this isn't already on the site to begin with.
Was waiting for WotR's seasonpass sale for a few weeks, saw it a few hours ago and told myself "yeah, i'll buy it in the morning". The sale just ended. Yeah i guess that could be usefull..
Kind of absurd that this isn't happening already. I see it sometimes on the front page for some offers, but it really should appear for every game.
Basically every official site with the exception of GOG and GreenManGaming shows expiration time for discounted games (and GMG does so 24 hours prior expiration, at least), so it's really a mystery to me while GOG doesn't implement such a basic feature.
Offer ends or sale ends on such and such date at such and such time.
+ 1 It is important I think. If I see a deal I would like to buy I would like to know when it will end so I can plan my purchase in case I need to go to my bank and sedra...
I'm not sure if anyone's said this yet, but if a game is part of a larger sale of a group of games, it should also have the expiration date of the sale on the page for each individual game, because people aren't necessarily looking at the page for the entire sale.
+1 -- this is long overdue.
i agree with this. though it will likely be added some day.
It's great from customer perspective and I would love to see it but it's opposite for store - if offer is time-limited and you don't now when promotion ends it's more likely that you will buy it now instead later (and possibly forget) .
Would really like this. Please add this simple feature.
i mean it. come fight me. I will take your job away from you and then YOUR LIFE.
who am I kidding nobody who works at GOG is gonna read this.
fr i wanna slap whoever is in charge of the community wishlist people have wanted this feature for 5 years, you suck at your job
this is so stupidly simple to add. When does Disco Elysium go off sale? Is it different from Steam? I want DRM free and I will buy through gog whenever I can, but not if I miss the discount. Get it together gog so lame.
How has this still not been implemented?
Earlier today I found a game while looking through all in that category and it was on sale. I checked the front page sale tabs but it wasn't listed there or in the weekly sale so no end date was found there. I checked the forum threads for the current sales but it wasn't there either. I used the search thingie on the forums and typed the name of the game and found nothing at all. I tried typing part of the name and got lots of other threads about a different game. I started manually look through the forum, page after page backwards and checked all the sale threads I saw, and finally found out that it was a game released over a week ago and the sale ends tomorrow. That thread didn't appear when I used search. It REALLY shouldn't be this much work shopping here. Please add end of sale date on the game's own page :)
Please implement. Still not a feature.
Just this morning I was about to purchase a game that was discounted yesterday only to find out that the discount had ended. Well, the same discount is still ongoing at a different online store (one where a discount countdown is visible), so I bought it from there. If I had known the discount would end on GOG, I would have been a bit more mindful, and purchased the game here sooner, as I would much rather support GOG than other store fronts.
Please add visible discount countdown on individual games’ pages!
Found this through Google trying to see how to view this information. Astonishing it isn't provided. I love GOG for keeping old games working and making things DRM free so I can backup games without fear, but things like this, or a friend of mine not being able to use a one-time-use discount code on a game because after entering it he had to go through a like 15 stage captcha and it then just marked the code as used make it feel like you have to go to the terrible Epic Store to find one that's less user friendly.
Yep. Right now was thinking about Noita - might do, might not. Same time theres Neon abyss on 20% off - good back up plan as Gundgeon and Nuclear throne worked for me. On its own it was not striking but for one of two i'd go yet... Will i be able to give one proper try knowing 'back up' sale wont run off?
Dont mix doubts on deadlines in to doubts on purchase. Add visible timer please.
Y'all, do you even want my money? If I miss the sale, I'm not buyin. It's as simple as that.
It can't be that difficult. Currently, wishlist discount emails will always show when the discount expires. Simply adding that somewhere easy to find on the actual store page (ex. Underneath the "Add to cart/wishlist" box) would fix this. It's such standard info for storefronts to display, I couldn't believe they actually forgot it. If you don't have emails enabled or can't be bothered to scour the discount "groups" on the main page to find the game you want, you're screwed.
+1 couldn't believe I couldn't find such basic info
Thanks!
Having seen the HoMM bundle for $25 yesterday, I went to buy it today, and it was $65. Yep, not a single word about the expiry.
GoG's anti-consumer behavior can go to hell. I absolutely will not buy ANYTHING from them until my fury subsides, which could be months, or even years. Genius marketing!
this feature would be useful when i'm debating buying a game. if the discount ends before i get around to purchasing (like if i don't know when i need to decide by), i'm not gonna buy at full price. i can't imagine i'm the only person who would probably buy more games if i could know how long the discounts will last.
YES!! This needs more upvotes!
Same as everyone else. Why not show how long a discount lasts? Steam's done it for years. Seems like a standard thing. Is it hard to do or something?
I just missed Evil Within 2 discount cause I didn't know it will expire so soon...
Especially for very new titles or early access titles I like a day or two to see some user feedback or news articles about the game before I purchase anything.
I think this is more honest than buying the game and refunding it later on.
This right here should be a thing. Steam shows it on their storefront. Even if we need to download Galaxy to get it which I'm fine with as it keeps my games organized this feature should please be implemented.
This is always a source of stress for me. I see a sale, and Well haha it's in the middle of the night, Nope can't ignore it now! Now I have to rush to buy it if it's something I like as fast as possible so that It doesn't go away when I'm not looking. It doesn't even matter if it's the middle of the night. It's just any time of day. I see a sale, *DROP EVERYTHING AND RUSH TO BUY* I shouldn't need to have a heart attack seriously lol
This should be obligatory for the sake of players and sellers, come on GOG.
Still not a thing.
Agreed, this would be a very nice feature. I've actually missed several purchases because I put them off until later and by that time the discounts were over.
