Public GOG profiles completed
Congratz: www.gog.com/forum/general/introducing_gog_profiles_a393f
Just do it!!!
I find it always interesting to see if one of my buddys are already in the last level of a game. So public Profiles would be great, but they should be customizable like steam and it should be optional. So as long as its OPT IN, i'm in!
@cvasco: Wishlists can be set to be public 'already'. As long as your friends chose to make them public you can see them. Alternatively, you can befriend your friends on GOG and politely ask them if they would consider making their wishlist viewable by befriended accounts.
At least a public wishlist, so I can gift my friends games they want.
Yes!
I'd love to have public profiles (or even unlisted profiles where it's only visible to those who have the link). That way I can let people know what games I've already purchased on GOG, in case they're trying to decide what to get me.
I'm going to agree with others and say that profiles should be an option, but only if one decides they want one (in other words, not mandatory). Things like a list of games acquired, a wishlist, friends list, games recently played, and achievements (maybe even a percentage showing achievement progress in a game). But like @silent49 said, please no trading cards.
DO IT!
opt in of course, but yes please!
Sometimes you just want to be able to prove that you actually bought the game over on the Steam forums.
Would love that ;D
Having a (public) profile would be very helpful in many cases. But, as often mentioned here, it should be opt-in instead of opt-out, and it should be possible to have a very precise control over the privacy settings. Not everyone wants everyone else to know which games they own, which games are on their wishlist and such things. Sure, there are many problems to solve about that topic, but i think all of them should be manageable with time.
I would expect most users to set their profile up to show nothing. That would create a situation in which the majority of GOG profiles would just be a barren wasteland, giving the reader a somewhat bad impression about GOG's popularity.
As an option maybe, but not standard..
Just bumping up ... all the games I purchased can not show up in my wishlist which *does* have a visible link for others to look at wishlist.
How do I show someone what games I have? Can't we implement that if we already have a "wishlist.link" ?
Change our www.gog.com/u/Fyxylplyx/wishlist links to www.gog.com/u/Fyxylplyx/library links...
Profiles would be nice. I'd like a setup similar to steam but unique to GOG. Modules on the profile should be simple, friends, recent games played, achievements, wishlist. Maybe a background option where GOG hosts game backgrounds, but no trading card system please.
A public profile of the games would be great! Saves me from having to manage an extra list if someone asks whether I have the game to either make 8k or 16k screenshots or (sometimes over gigapixel) panoramas from games....
(Also, GOG would really be inspired to fix their site and stop converting linebreaks into literal br tags! That is, add an exception to your HTML encoding function to ignore simple formatting tags... Especially those that are added automatically by your system :-P)
I recently realized that the reason I was prioritizing Steam purchases over GOG purchases was only because my friends could see I bought the game. That's a totally self-centered way of doing things, and I'm ashamed of it. But you know what? That's probably the main reason many people favor Steam over anything else. Steam allows so much crap on its database, and we're all so weak in front of bundles, that we end up with libraries with hundreds if not thousands of games, and it feels like the better games are lost in the mass.
Quite simply said, a public profile would be a good way to say to one's friends, "okay, my favorite platform is GOG, check out my games over there. I completely endorse them, and I don't need to have them on Steam because I already have them on the platform that matters the most."
Your users being able to link people to their GOG profiles would give you quite the PR boost. Suddenly you see GOG links everywhere, just like you already see everyone posting their twitter, Steam and whatnot links.
I'd like to believe you're already working on this, because this is may be the single biggest no-brainer non-game-related-feature yet to be added.

I'd really love to have this feature. Additionally, GOG will have another way to do some free marketing.
i.e. if I see a game on a friend's game-list, I'll be much more likely to purchase that game.
Big +1 for this, add an option so we can make our profile public.
Highly aprecciate it. I love to maintain my steam profile. Sadly GOG has nothing like this. At least it would be nice to really see my friends and not only in chat.
This is on my short list of most-desired features, has been for a long time. Make it optional or make its privacy settings simple and intuitive, and link to users libraries. Not asking for inventories or trading cards. Just a profile.
Every profile section should have a visibility option, like the wishlist is right now.

I would love a profile to use on my twitch channel!

I don't need anything complicated, just a profile link to hand out to friends. What's the point of being able to add friends if I can't even find the friend?

Yes Please!
100% for this! :)
Voted, something similar to steams profiles, and ofcourse fully optional.
I made quite a few purchases (as gifts) on Steam because GOG lacks this feature and it makes me sad because I wanted to support a DMR-free platform.
optional, yay
Voted
I would like it if by default the profile is non public and if you can turn the wishlist and the game shelf on and off separately.
Definitely needed, of course letting people control the privacy settings (on/off as a minimum).
It sure would be a lot easier to gift my friends' games if I didn't have to ask them constantly what they have and what they don't.
privacy settings and public profile for free choice about it
FRIENDLISTS! You should only have access to other Profiles if you're on their friendlists!
YES!! Public profiles, to encourage the community aspect of GOG - something similar to Steam would be nice: steamcommunity.com/id/kethlyr
(I have 3 games on Steam and 88 on GOG. I LOVE GOG. But so often I have trouble explaining the concept to my Steam-using friends. It would be wonderful to attract more of them over here, and a public profile option would really help sell it as something on par with Steam.)
Obviously it would be an opt-in thing. But I would definitely use it and I think it would help attract people over here!
Thanks, but no thanks! GOG sells games. It's called GOG not FaceGOG or GOGbook or GOGspace etc. If you want everyone to know about it put it on all the "social" websites you have no doubt advertized and comodified your life to. But please DO NOT force all of us to destroy what little amount of privacy we have left in this world. Enough is enough thank you.
Sorry people, this is a duplicate :O

I was just looking for that right now. Wanted to show my game collection to a friend.
This would be very welcome!
opt in only/default to private then i'll vote
only for public profiles/wishlists if you choose to make them so, right? I would hate to see that become a mandatory feature. :(
I think by "public" the author means "shared" -- among friends. If that's the case, it would be a great feature for GOG and help facilitate a real community!
