Keep or bring back manual sorting
bump
Voting on this. It drives me crazy to buy like a bundle of games only to have them not in order in my library, or worse, SCATTERED about my library. Forgotten Realms volume 1 comes to mind, Pool of Radiance is the first game, and Curse of the Azure Bonds is the second, but there's like 50 or more games in between these two with Curse appearing first because it's alphabetically the first game of the set. I might be picky in that alphabetical is fine, but when it comes to a series of games, I like them in the order they're meant to be played, so using the gold box example above: have them together on the 'shelf' and in the order they happen in, so Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and then Pools of Darkness. Instead only the Pool games are together on the shelf, the rest are completely scattered, and it drives me nuts to see it. Please guys, bring this feature back.
Let's bump this.
I don't see why is's such a big problem for the guys at GoG to bring back an already existing feature. It's so not logical to keep people from organizing their stuff freely if they themselves are insisting on that whole "boxes on shelves" kinda visualization...I can't rearrange my own games on my shelves? Why?
Please fix this...it has gone on for such a long time and I presume it wouldn't take longer than a few hours of coding...and it's so irritating and the only big issue with GoG for me...
Thanks!
please, GOG. The order of some game series is a mess; at least let us fix our own library!
please !!! please !!!
I need manual sorting
Definitely. If we can't have manual sorting, at least fix the alphabetical sorting issues with my Ultima games as mentioned by others!
Why they removed the manual sorting option is just beyond me. Why? What's the reason? If it's there why take it away?
The alphabetical option doesn't work really since you can't order strictly in alphabetical order because it gets messy, here's an example how my Ultima collection looks like in my library:
Akalabeth: World of Doom
(and all other games between A and U)
Ultima III
Ultima II
Ultima IV
Ultima I
Ultima VII - Serpent Isle (that's Ultima VII part 2)
Ultima VII - The Black Gate (that's Ultima VII part 1)
Ultima VI
Ultima V
Ultima Underworld I
Ultima Underworld II
Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams
Ultima 8
Ultima 9
(whole bunch of other games)
Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire
Other examples would be Monkey Island, yes it is called The Secret of... but I want to have all the Monkey Island games clumped up under M. Another is Myst, the sequel called Riven and the spin-off called Uru, I want them under M for Myst too.
Just don't understand how you can remove a perfectly working system like that.
Need a sorting menu - alphabetize would be nice. Since I love games I have 370 gog games in library. Pain to find one I feel like downloading since not in order, and cannot download all of a large order at once.
Still no news about this?
Any news?
I'm still voting with my wallet until you revert this stupid change.
would really like to know if we can do this yet. I miss just dragging my games on my shelf were i want them. Please GOG it's been to long since we could do this.
We're still waiting...
Still nothing? I spent lot of time organizing my library and you trashed all my efforts.
Still not buying anything else on GOG until you bring manual sorting back (and hopefully you revert my library as it was before, since it really took a very long time).
Please bring back manual sorting. I loved the ability to have my games sorted exactly the way I wanted; it was one of the biggest reasons I preferred buying a game here versus on Steam. It's cleaner, more user-friendly and allows everyone to navigate their collection in the way they want. Please find a way to bring this option back.
Please bring back. Very sad thing that we beg for this basic feature. I have ~550 game. My glorius and ordered shelf transformed to the unsorted mess of chaotic nightmares and I think twice before buy a new little bastard. I want level up and not curse. So GOG please take it easier my secret gaming life.
Please bring back manual sorting.
What a mess my collection is now. Let me sort it.
I really liked the manual sorting, now my library is just a mess.
NO GOG! I'm NOT jumping on the galaxy-wagon. No matter how much you screw up the shelf system!!!
I'm so incredibly annoyed by this.
Give us back the old interface.
Meh, my library is such a mess now, i really need manual sorting back.
I must admit, I often find myself not buying certain games because I want them in a specific order in my account. It seems trivial, but I do like a sense of organisation when I view my games. And generally, I don't like having newer titles mixed in older dos titles. It just seems messy.
Re-enable manual sorting already.
Why should I have to sort my library after someone elses predefined models?
I'd like my games in the order I want them to be in thank you very much.
The functionality used to be great, why was it taken away in the first place? Seem silly and stupid.
Please re-enable manual sorting!
Manual sorting is a feature that needs to stay. And bring back the box art & wooden shelf.
Alphabetical "sort by title" doesn't work properly. Betrayal at Krondor is on the top of the list, Return to Krondor is at the end. Avadon 2 is before Avadon, there is Beyond Divinity separated from Divine Divinity and Divinity II, Blades of Avernum cutted form Avernum series, Crystal of Aborea cutted from Ishar series. The mess is with Lands of Lore, Legacy of Kain, Neverwinter Nights, all Wing Commanders (also spin offs), Realms of Arkania, Ultima (also spin offs).
I don't think you could be able to clean this mess. Who could? Yes, we can :). Give the people power of the Manual Sorting!
Yes, this! Alphabetical sorting is okay, sorting by purchase date seems strange to me (but maybe some people find it useful).. but I'd rather use my personal sorting method. Which is more based on personal preference and gene than anything else.
Please, GOG.. I have over 80 titles in my account. It would be great if you would bring back the best way for me to find the game I want. And have it be more aesthetically pleasing.
As an aside, maybe add some more customisation options as well as the old library shelves looked better than the new one in my opinion.
Manual sorting was MUCH better than what is here now.
Now I cant figure out where all my game groupings are.
Also, why are the boxes missinbg?
I liked them.
Yep, can't stand this new system. I like being able to organise my games in whichever way we wanted.
Seems to me that GOG aren't listening to its users. I don't want Galaxy either. I suppose this always happens to companies where they reach a critical mass of popularity. I've been a Steam user since HL2 came out and I can't stand the changes they've recently made. I don't use any of that social media crap.
Sue me, I'm old school. I have a folder on my desktop with game shortcuts in it. That's it. Everything else is for the birds.
I'm not buying anything else until they bring back manual sorting.
First they unbundle games making library a mess (feel free to sign my request to give users a bundle/unbundle option: www.gog.com/wishlist/site/give_users_an_option_to_bundleunbundle_games ), then this thing.
This is changing stuff for the sake of it, you are not doing a good service to your customers GOG, wake up!
Took away something I enjoyed very much and gave me a bunch of social media crap I didn't want or ask for. Not a fair exchange. Who's idea was this? Did GOG hire the guy who thought Windows 8 was a good idea?
I liked having my games in my order - I liked arranging them on my shelves - part of the joy of buying games on gog is as a collection - please bring this back
I really liked using the blank spaces to categorize my games by genre.
If they can't bring that back having an option to sort by tag or genre and put some padding or line break between each group.
Bring manual sorting back, NOW!!! Do you know how long it took me to sort all of my 240 games (especialy after you splited the collections!!!!) how I like it and want it??? Do You???? How the hell should I now find some games when they are not together and splited on 3 sites???? Bring manual sorting back!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You.......
because it was beyond our reach to deliver the quality we wanted => lol
We love freedom of choice, and we love giving it to you whenever it's possible, but unfortunately............ => lol
Broken Sword should always show up before Broken Sword 2 => lol
what about dlc`s??
pls bring back the old man. sort. & the old look or a different one as the one now, its terrible.
Because I can't arrange the games manually. all the games are a mess
Strategy games mixed with puzzle games mixed with RPGs
And I can't place my favorite games at top (like super Important to place favorite games at the top)
I can no longer sort my games oldest-bought first? That kinda smacks of being told HOW I *MUST* do something, in order to participate. When did EA or UbiFail buy GOG?
The aesthetic ability to manual arrange on a bookshelf reminded me of the days of the Good Old Games when there was no DRM and games came in boxes which you placed on your bookshelf. Please bring it back! It's as much a part of GOG as the games!
Part of the enjoyment of any collection, digital or otherwise, is how you arrange it and present it. Even if it's only to yourself. I liked being able to drag and drop my game collection into the setup that made the most sense for me. And it sucks that the time spent doing that is lost. Sorting the collection by Title is inconsistent at the moment, and many game series no longer display in order this way because later games in a series have a number after them so they get put in front of a game with the same title but no number. For example Icewind Dale 2 is sorted in front of Icewind Dale, and there is no way to correct this. But it's not consistent. Syberia 2 is placed correctly after Syberia, even though Syberia is not titled as "Syberia 1". So it would be nice if all that were sorted out and made the same across each game series in GOG's catalog. At least have series display in the correct order regardless of individual games title format.
Obviously GOG thinks I bought too many games from them because their new system makes it impossible to find any of them except by a general search. Forget about grouping games of a series together or grouping by type. That capability is gone -- replaced by some stuff I don't give a rat's a$$ about. Alphabetizing does not work. Games that start with "The" can be either found under T or under the first letter of the 2nd word in the title. There's no telling where games will be because titles aren't consistent. Monkey Island 1 is nowhere near Monkey Island 2 and there is absolutely nothing I can do to group them together using the current system. And the Monkey Island games are only one example of the mess that GOG made of a once-functional system.
I wouldn't touch Steam with a bargepole and don't want any kind of "client." If i"Galaxy" is anything like the current state of the website, that's even more reason not to try it.
And I miss the bookshelf look. I regret that I never took screenshots of it. The new system is impossible to browse with.
As I said before, GOG obviously thinks I've bought too many games from them, because if I'd only bought 3 or 4 instead of over 250 I wouldn't be having these problems finding my games and it wouldn't matter that I can't group them so I can find them.
This is a great wishlist
I had them all arranged according to genre as well as personal preference, don't see any reason to remove such options.
I don't even hardly play the games I buy here, I just like to sort them and look at the box art. So now I can't manual sort and the box art is gone =(
No more purchases until it's fixed.
635 of us want manual sorting in the Galaxy client too: www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/manual_sorting
Well having tried Galaxy I can tell you. This site change is galaxy in all but name.
If you don't want Auto updates, which as a mod user I never want. They are virtually identical.
The only thing I want on the site is manual sorting, none of these Galaxy features belong here, if it's truly optional.
The way GOG is talking we have no choice in this at all.
WEll I do have a choice, I can choose not to use GOG the steam clone, hell if that's what it's becoming, why not use Steam instead.
Yeah this. Maybe part of GOG's difficulty is finding a way to navigate how things are in Galaxy vs how they are on the website. I haven't tried Galaxy yet so I don't know. But manual sorting! Come on! The official "we can't do it to the level of quality we want so we just won't do it at all" explanation seems pretty vague. There should still at least be a manual sorting option for when you look at the overall collection. If they can't have it for when you look at games under tags, that makes a little more sense for the time being, but not having it at all? The tags and filters should compliment manual organization, not replace it altogether.
It's amazing to think that an updated version can be worse than the older one in terms of features. Seriously why make it more inconvenient for your users? Guess GoG really need to push forth rollback for GoG features as well since they went and fucked this up.
Removing manual sorting is bullshit. Please bring it back.
