Include comprehensive patch/update notes when a title is updated. completed
gog is always late on gamepatches and pretty much never shows the latest patch notes for them. This is NOT completed!!
This is marked completed and that's a total lie. There are 52 items in my library with the blue dot that shows updates. None of them had any kind of update notes! Only one or two of them had anything listed on the forums for updates. One of the games had a major update from the developer, too! And those notes had to be posted by a regular user on the forums. It wasn't even from a GOG staff. This is shameful.
Most games only have 1 or 2 notes, there's not even a description for each patch going back to 2008
How is this completed?
Where do I check the patch notes for each game?
I login to my account and see [2] next to Account and when I check my library I only see one game with the 'new' flag next to it. What the heck was updated? Do I have to check every single title I have bought? I don't feel this option/feature was put in at all. I don't see the option in Galaxy client either. Very frustrating.
I don't agree this was completed, more like started. It's still way too much work to figure out what was updated on the part of the user.
useful idea for sure !
Yeah, I'd like this as well. Don't need that many details, just would like to see a basic summary/changelog, at least.
Underrated aspect, but needed for sure :)
Please add this. It can be very frustrating not know what was added or changed. For example just recently The Witcher was listed as updated, I'm assuming it was one of the extras, but I don't know which. All it would take is a little new beside what was updated/added.
We also need to know which item(s) for the title were updated and include patch/update notes as needed. I expanded upon this at www.gog.com/wishlist/site/indicate_which_items_are_updated_for_a_title_include_patchupdate_notes
I'm always wondering what the hell was updated when I see "Account [n]", never know if I need to redownload the game or if it was something else.
Please add this feature! ^_^
It would be excellent to know exactly what the changes are when something is updated.
I second this - often I see that "something" was updated about a product but there is no clear way to see what exactly has been added/changed.
I would appreciate both versions. I don't like patching games when I reinstall them. There should be a single installer for the latest version. Yet patches also have a right to exist and are useful for people who just want to update.
would be NICE to have a clearly understood version of your D L and install programs. SO far sent fur hours trying to get it to work. There is NOT A TAB or button for ADD TO D L on the MY ACCT page. SIERRA.ERR NOOT FOUND and the link you sent does NOT WORK.
This would be most helpful. ^_^
It would be really great to have these included in the installers and patch exe's as well!
duplictate of www.gog.com/wishlist/site/changelog_for_patch
Totally for it. The disappearing "new" flag is frustrating enough, but not knowing what has been patched/added is extremely annoying.
Not only patch notes, but we need to be able to identify WHEN a game was patched/updated/added to. If I accidentally clear the "new" flag while away from home, there is no way to find it later.
This would be very handy.
Even an email letting you know that a game you own has been updated would help.

Yup this would be great, right in "My Games" when you click on a game. I would also greatly appreciate it patch notes would be mandatory for games on GOG so we know what and why we are patching the games.
A changelog for each game would indeed be so helpful. Even better if it also showed the date of the last update on the page.
isn't this already the case? at least for alpha centauri there is a distinct patch from v2 to 2.0.1 on gog.com/mygames....
A change file on the game page would be nice as well so that we can see what the update does - I saw that FTL is updated to 2.0.0 however I could not find any information as to what the patch does.
agree. also, this would have another positive side-effect, non-forced patches. There are sometimes reasons for players NOT to use the latest version (pre-patched). E.g. Dungeon Keeper brought out by GOG as prepatched 1.7, many think the advantages of 1.7 (e.g. elite-creatures) are smaller than the disadavantage of significant more stupid AI compared to release version 1.3. Also, I would really like to see more work on NEW patches like done by timeslip with his great resolution fix for DKII (www.gog.com/en/forum/dungeon_keeper_series/hardware_acceleration_doesnt_seem_to_be_quite_working) . I also think GOG should package sometimes "final" (officialized) patches for well know broken games, where the game community already created fixes and patches and these just need to be "authorised" by a official hand. Who should do it beside GOG? They care for old games and got a official licenses for old and dead franchises, so they have the authority (and responsibility) in creating final, offcial patches if possible. ;)
Don't know when this wish was added but you actually do get a notification when a new update is available. Next to "My Account" a number appears (exactly the same one as when you get a reply on the forums) and when you hover over "My Account" you see the number of games that got updated. My only problem is that you have to scroll through the library to find out which game was updated (and in case of The Witcher 2 it took me a while to get all the way down).
