Games that run on Linux category
While I see what you are getting at, I believe that this would not benefit the community. Especially because wineHQ has an extensive list of games that work with wine realestate-savaria.ca/properties-list-2/
Poor gog devs, they just closed the Linux support wish and already they got 10 new ones asking for more Linux features :D
@jorlin: Apparently they're already bundling tested versions of Wine with some of their Mac offerings in much the same way they do with DOSBox.
ScummVM and DOSBox hardly have any regression bugs, whilw Wine has too many regression bugs to keep track of. As it is, only ScummVM/ DOSBox based games would qualify for such a label. That is unless GOG would start to support Wine as a platform, which I deem highly unlikely.
Sounds like what you really want is secure.gog.com/wishlist/site/show_which_games_use_dosbox_or_scummvm
...possibly combined with secure.gog.com/wishlist/site/zipped_version_of_dos_games
For games that run under Dosbox, what Gog creates is basically an installer that wraps the game in dosbox. Being a desktop Linux user, I wish I were able to download the game zip, and not dosbox or gog installer.
Both DOSbox and ScummVM have linux clients. Considering that many of the games here on GOG.com use these emulators to run, adding a download option for the linux clients should not be too hard. Not all Linux users are powerusers that are comfortable using Wine.
While I see what you are getting at, I believe that this would not benefit the community. Especially because wineHQ has an extensive list of games that work with wine, so you could use that, right? Adding to that, just because it did work for somebody, does not mean it will work for somebody else as well, especially under the several different linux distributions. I'd love to have that as well, but I think gog.com would be the wrong place.
