De-google GOG.com
You are losing formerly loyal customers left and right with this Google/tracking/spyware shit. I can't stand this site anymore. Nice knowing you.
If my security software blocks content then I will not be able to access content here. If I am unable to access content here that obviously means I am unable to buy stuff here. If I am unable to buy stuff here then I will obviously will be taking my business to another site or three. I consider software that prevents me from spying on my computer to be security software. I also consider software that prevents people from spying on me as I travel around the internet (commonly refered to as privacy software) to be security software. They all hate google twitter facebook and others BECAUSE they track people around the internet as standard business practice, even if the person in question does not have an account with them. Right now I have a total of 3+7+2=12 such trackers blocked.
which do you prefer money from game sales or a few coppers from google? Make a choice as I won't purchase again until google is removed
Google is also included in the newsletter subscriber special offer program. You can't claim your "subscriber reward" without google knowing it. Not a fan of it, not at all.
Re checkout: seems like you're able to pay with CC again without being encumbered by Google's APIs. While it's definitely a step forward the root problem still persists.
I should add that on GOG it loads resources from the below sources; <a href="http://fonts.googleapis.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
fonts.googleapis.com</a> <a href="http://apis.google.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
apis.google.com</a> <a href="http://googletagmanager.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
googletagmanager.com</a>
While I have those blocked on my system, others may not and might be tracked even when they aren't checking out. I agree, de-Google the web!
I would recommend something like Plausible where you're in control of the data from your customers.
This is still a problem.
Couldn't agree more.
I should find a way to reward my Pihole as it's blocking me from spending money through tainted procedures. /s
Seriously though, I'm not spending as much money at GOG.com anymore and when I really, really need to, I must resort to Paysafecards. I don't see why the system pre-Adyen/Google had to be tainted with this crap, other than submitting to greed of course. Please make it stop.
Would just code your site so that only after someone selects a payment option THEN such links would be included. I.e. at checkout it should be gog only for the item list and then allow hte user then to select payment (paypal, cc, googlepay, whatever) at the section point then have the links to the appropriate transaction company.
I second that. Google is a massive pain in the arse, especially for things like their bot challenges. If that gets introduced I might just stop buying stuff here, as I don't need the aggravation.
emm, what? Yes, that is definitely a very important issue -.- (I am saying that sarcastically)
Yes... Google is a frightening company. Massive censorship... yikes! That's even worse than nasty DRM imo.
Well said. I couldn't have said it better. I value my data much more than the price of a game. De-Google GoG now, please!
de-google the whole internet too please.
YES PLEASE: de-google gog!
EDIT FOR CLARITY: I was about to purchase new games when I noticed the CheckOut page would not let me pay. It turns out between nov-dec an "update" introduced a GOOGLEPAY SCRIPT that must be allowed in order to pay with a card (selecting this option while blocking these scripts won't allow the transaction to continue). My business with GOG is only between GOG and I, and no other third party (ESPECIALLY google). Using any tool and service provided by google is subject to the google terms of privacy (and lack thereof). As a GOG customer I must ask GOG to please remove googlepay and other google scripts (googletag a.k.a. analytics, gstatic, recaptcha, google api scripts) from the GOG website so that us privacy-oriented customers may continue purchasing games comfortably. All the games in our carts will remain there until this issue is resolved. ALTERNATIVELY, please remove any connections, scripts, and profiling done by google with regards to our accounts, activities, and purchases within GOG unless a customer SPECIFICALLY CHOOSES googlepay as an option. Thank you.
