TheScorpion The thing is, using what? Modern PCs don't disc drives anymore. Most PC cases don't even have drive bays anymore. Even if you could use an external drive, blu ray drives are very rare and expensive, let alone BD-XL drives. Heck, moden PCs don't even have card readers anymore, only USB ports. I guess they could ship a game in a flash drive, as a form of physical copy, but really you can do that your self. They might as well ship an empty box with just manuals and such, and you can put your installer in a flash drive and put in that box.
fleezum would love to see the game box design back again. It really did provide that old sense of the ownership of the item like the boxes did in the good ol' days and it did fit very well with your vision statement for drm free gaming. I'm sure there are logistical challenges with standard box art but if the option were available, it would be a celebrated adjustment by me. Thanks GOG!

Einzelgamer Yes, hate the library view. It's very uninspired and Steam influenced which is too bad. Box art is a pretty important piece of gaming history. With the new store design, which is also terrible, GOG needs to rethink their vision and remember their original purpose. Quit ruining things that made you unique GOG. :/
Achivai This is weirdly important for me. It was fun to have a collection stacked up on a virtual shelf, made it feel more 'real'. Now it seems they've even removed the shitty shelf, I won't buy as much now, that's for sure : /
Chacranajxy Wow, I just realized that the lists that people make still have box art, even for the new games. Those look a million times better than the cards. Why don't we get to use those in the Library, again?
gliamonster That 2009 screenshot is awesome. It looks like you could even stack the cases edge-on if they weren't your favourite or didn't look cool enough to take up so much space.

xenocidic Still haven't bought any games from this site since the change. I used to be on every day looking for new games and now my wallet is safe from GOG. Makes me sad, though. All my game boxes are gone =(

mrbinary There's one big reason that I've purchased from GOG instead of from the many other stores that now offer these games: I've enjoyed the emulated feel of purchasing a physical game that includes a box and manuals. This aspect of GOG seems to be eroding now, so I have less reason to spend my money here.

lazerbeams2 I think the boxes looked much nicer than the current page and I like the titles on the current page. So we can make everyone happy by bringing the boxes back and either putting a socket style label under them or showing the spines and having them flip outward to show the art when you mouse over them. Either way would be great but the second sounds cooler

Oftentimes when I came to GOG to play something, I frequently ended up just marveling at all the beautiful boxes instead which brought me back in time to days of yore, to the days of my youth, just by looking over them!
You may think, meh, it's just a couple of box covers. But don't underestimate the power of Nostalgia. It is a force so mighty it makes you shrug off bad graphics, navigate the most treacherous UIs without a flinch and dance even to simple 8-bit tunes!
And you know why... Because it's about the feelings those images and sounds evoke. The feelings we felt when we first saw and heard them. The excitement, the joy and the very same state of mind we were in at that point in our lives... back when the world still appeared so infinite and magical, when nothing seemed impossible.
Seeking out stimuli which bring back these feelings is the closest thing we have to time travel. That's why these stimuli are so valuable to us, be it a screenshot, an old game, an old tune, or some stylish old box covers lined up on a neat virtual shelf.
It may seem like an insignificant detail, but to many of us, it makes a world of difference in the quality of our time spent with you.
So please, in keeping with your founding principles, consider our humble request.

HeMan.912 What on earth?! I had perfection with that stylish wooden shelf and game boxes, I got good feelings just By looking through my games in it, but now it's GONE! Why, seriously? There is a difference between cheapest possible looking functional buildings and those unbelievable masterpieces built by the best architects. Please bring the old option back as soon as possible, it was one of the best things Gog had and made it personal in a very good way.
Kyusumu I really miss the old view! It felt like a collection and I enjoyed adding to it. Please bring this back. I loved looking at my collection and reordering them on the shelves. The new view just feels empty, I really don't like it. Maybe add an option to choose from the old box art or the new art for each game.
Zagryzaec It`s really discouraging to go to your collection and see it just like games in store. Please make an option to see Good Old Games on the Good Old Shelf as Good Old Boxes. It adds a stimulus to buy games to add them on the shelf.
M2002K Please bring back the old wooden shelf with just the game boxes. Not the current ugly grey name box beneath the pictures. It's really ugly. At least give us the option to choose the layout. Now it's just terrible. Don't know how you guys like it...

Avaran I miss the boxes very much, it looked like an old shelf at home in the 90s with the big cardboard boxes all lined up (when all games still came in cardboard boxes). All charm of the old menu is gone for me now...
Aidenz Really, I don't know why taking *away* customization is a good thing for gog now, I loved the look of a library, now it's really boring looking, though the addition of the game's name is helpful, I think there could be a way to reconcile both looks. I'm all for full box art!
themostghost Having it as an option would be nice, the new look is OK but the classic bookshelf look was really nice, had the feel of old PC game boxes. Even better, put in a spine view for some real nostalgia ;)
friedram I would really really really like the boxes back. I have a huge box collection spanning 5+ bookshelves at my house in my game room (I'm married with a kid and pretty old).
A solution would be just to provide a page that has a list of the boxes like it used to have. I wish I could just make a huge poster of my GoG library and have it printed out to a poster. :-(

mllarson I too would like the old box art back. As I've been downloading the games I've been grabbing the box art thumbnail and renaming it to folder.jpg so that Windows shows the box art in place of the folder icon. Now it just looks... meh.... Even if you give the option of downloading a "box art" graphic for people like me :-)
