Good addition!
Guys, This wish is completed! lets cheers!
generally english is a very mumble language in spelling so subtitles are necessary BTW thre are many reasons that english is the worsest choice for international language maybe Esperanto would be much better

I don't have any trouble with english but sometimes actors mumble, or very often whoever made the movie seems to have a very strange concept of audio levels and need to make the music deafening and the dialogue super low.
This is very important.
My english is not good. :-( (in moment :-))
Thanks.
I have a difficult time hearing, subtitles would be a blessing.
Yes please! Due to my hearing I have a hard time watching movies without subtitles on.
You'll find this in the movie info on the right-side bar (same place as system requirements for games): for instance it might say "Languages: Audio and text: English", like in <a href=""http://www.gog.com/movie/the_gamers_hands_of_fate"" class="light_un" target="_blank">"http://www.gog.com/movie/the_gamers_hands_of_fate"</a> meaning you'll have English subtitles :) The OPTION of subtitles is there, but we don't always get them from the creators (and then, we obviously can't post them) - so marking this one as complete, as creating subtitles of our own is not something we'll be able to do, or not anytime soon at least.
Yes. Please.
I'm a native English speaker from Australia and always enable subtitles to watch foreign films - particularly American films. It makes the mumbling, unfamiliar accent and slang a lot easier to decypher. For a demonstration, try watching Snatch (2000) without any subtitles and see if you can catch more than half of the dialogue.
I am hard of hearing and I love subtitled English movies, especially if the music or SFX are really loud or the dialog track is too soft. Subtitle option definitely influences what many movies I buy/download.
I agree 'cos I'm Deaf and am a fanatical video games player/collector.
I get very frustrated when I find that System Shock 2, Thief Gold Edition, Half-life 1,Half-Life : Opposing Force, Enemy Engaged: Apache Vs Havoc, KA52 Team Alligator, Command & Conquer game series, Hostile Water and several PC Classic games are unplayable due to Voice and no subtitles/close caption options. It pisses me off when we asked game developers to provide subtitles/close caption option patches and they refused to provide. I would be extremely pleased if GOG could provide subtitles/close caption patches for games which didn't come with it.
I am a native english speaker. However what if I have poor hearing? What if I want to watch something and there's lots of. What if people want to provide their own subtitle tracks?
I for one would enjoy a subtitle track that's a text version of rifftracks, or like the old popup video where random facts pop up as the movie plays. A subtitle friendly format will let fan projects like that happen without any work on your part outside of allowing movies to be delivered in a format friendly to subtitling.
Maybe Community Supported Subtitles. One of the roadblocks that I face ,when buying movies, are subtitles. Lots of movies in physical format provide a limited set of subtitles, and in the case of anime, not even in my native language (spanish). Since, fansubs are very popular, maybe a way for the community to provide subtitles for the movies is worth to try.
Will someone ban seatbeter please and his spamming of links etc.?
I'm a native English speaker but... I don't know if this is bc I'm getting older or bc there is a lot of mumbling these days - but I need subtitles to understand most movies. (Even if they are in English).
Gog should err on the side of caution. If you don't need subtitles, it's no big thing to disable them. But, if you require them and they aren't part of the package, a whole bunch of people lose out... Let's make sure we are all inclusive and always assure that people with hearing problems are able to enjoy these things.
not that I'm that interested in movies, but as a non-native speaker, I'm sure I won't buy anyone that has no subs. and it would be even better if we could choose the subs language.
For me, a non native english speaker, it is actually quite helpful to have english subtitles. Subs please!
(sorry for my bad english)
Im a spanish speaker (from Argentina). I think languages support is more important on movies than games. I can play videogames in english (i played many games with english audio and texts, like Brutal Legend), but its more dufficult for me to see movies without spanish subtitbles.
I hope you add spanish support to movies (the only movie with spanish subtitles is Indie Game)
Greetings!
I'm deaf also and subtitles would be very appreciated for 100% of the catalogue ! Also, if there aren't official subtitles, gog could work on these subtitles and offer them as "exclusive gog goodie"
Subtitles are extremely important for me, even when I watch a movie in a language I understand because of my poor hearing. Can't enjoy a movie without them.
@Judaslscariot If you guys actually have subs for anime you'll want to market that heavily. It's been a feature the streaming services have been ignoring for years.
Subtitles are essential. Yes, even english subs to english dub! A movie without subtitles is like a fap material actor without boobs!
@JudasIscariot:
Has GOG explored the option of having volunteers add subtitles? There are websites available that can do that for free. Contact the people at about.amara.org/volunteer/ and discuss options with them. They also work with Netflix to make subtitles available.
This site allows a website to be listed and then volunteers can add subtitles to the videos. But they'll need some kind of access to do that, so please contact these people if you can. A little effort can go a long way. Thanks. :-)
Hi all,
Most of our movies should have their subtitle information listed on their repsective game card. Look for the words "Captions and subtitles" in the languages section of each movie :) Also, please keep in mind that some movies never got official subtitles made so we can't offer what isn't there, unfortunately :(
Also want to see subtitles for movies as well for foreigners (it's enough easy) as well for H.I. (it's more difficult).
Another option will be fine - subtitles for other languages (no audio).
Subtitles are something I use in almost every movie I watch. Would love it if GOG's movie selection had them. :-)
I'm also interested in this feature. ^_^
Also agreed. As someone who is partially deaf, subtitles would be a great benefit. They are also useful if you want to watch a movie while muted (e.g. if on public transport).
We need more movies with Wiccan subtitle tracks.
Please, give us subtitles - not only are there many users for whom English is not their first language, but also people with disabilities. I am hard of hearing myself and the lack of subs makes a huge difference (I am also Polish but really, even English subs would be a considerable help).
This can be useful even to fluent native speakers, because sometimes I don't quite catch what somebody says because they have a weird accent.
I support this and it is very important.
THIS is an awesome idea. It is easier for me to understand the english subtitles than to hear the voices.
This really needs to happen considering that this site sells its goods to the global market - hopefully something like that can be considered feasible for GOG.com to do. Also something that would help make this more manageable for people who may want to switch between multiple subtitle tracks easily:
www.gog.com/wishlist/site/more_video_format_options_usage_of_mkvs_etc_instead_of_just_mp4
This should be put under Requested Features, not here, but I will certainly vote for it once you submit it there, especially if you would broaden your request to: " Please include as many subtitles as possible, even for the original voice language of the movie"
I would add that getting as many languages as possible for subtitles would be a really good idea. Not only would it expand GOG's market, but make them available for deaf people all over the world.
