Gengar78 @Zalmanthebest Well, there are a few reasons why one might want just the originals over the special editions; much smaller file size, easier to modify in ScummVM or dosbox, the smaller price (if they were sold separate from the SE). Also, the original EGA release of Monkey Island 1 is not included in the SE here.
Zalmanthebest Why pay for monkey island 1-2(dos/original) when you can buy the special edition and you can switch(press f9) in the original version?where you want and when you want.

What's the problem? Monkey island 1+2 = 5.90 euro or 9.60.There is just a new release :D you don't loose nothing.The special edition rest here!

Lucumo Bought my first games today on this platform and looked for the originals. A shame they aren't offered as I would definitely buy them (and not the remakes).

Erich_Zann Everything's been said here and in the release thread of the SE, so I'll just concur. I won't buy the remake abortion even on sale, but I'll buy the 1990 original full price on (re)release, if only to make the point.
Gabelvampir Please GOG, give us the real Monkey Island 1+2, I can't bring myself to again pay any money for the horrible art style of the remake. Except if you bundle the original versions as extra. And no, the classic mode of the remakes does not do, MI 2 has a way worse audio system and both have other problems.

No it doesn't. No EGA close ups. No stump joke. No text gui. No sun in the harbour. What the classic mode of the special edition does is takes it close to the CD VGA edition released a few years after the original version, and even then you need to use logicdeluxe's batch file to fix other issues in the port.
Love & Thunder Umm... Guys... The special edition has a setting which makes it EXACTLY THE SAME as the original.
ssokolow Agreed. Both as a fan of the original and as a Linux user, I see little incentive to buy the special edition release but would gladly re-buy the original CD version. (Gotta have that Red Book audio.)

moonshineshadow Original would be nice since the missing languages in the "classic mode" of SE are annyoing and some people acually want the real deal with the old interface.
