Veysel Any PC/Amiga games similar to Sword of Aragon?
Dear Community,
I have a burning questions since the time I moved to PC in mid-1990s. Is there any game that you know of which is similar to the magnificent "Sword of Aragon" by SSI on Amiga or any other platform? Any re-makes? I played and re-played it for so many hours on my good old Amiga back in the day.
I didn't like Heroes of the Might and Magic series very much, including its (much better IMO) predecessor (now re-made) King's Bounty. At the end, I don't want to command armies made up of 100 frogs, 60 owls, 25 fish against 100 bullfrogs, 50 great owls etc. So silly. :) Sword of Aragon's gameplay included the more convincing elements for the usual RPG/strategy gamer. For instance, cities had actual populations; you can adjust taxation levels, you can recruıt the meagre numbers of volunteers or impose unpopular conscription. Instead of frogs, owls, eagles etc, you create 100-150 men companies of infantry, archers, cavalry. They can accrue experience and thus increase their levels. You can equip them with classic RPG weapons and armor such as plate mails, pikes, halberds etc. As importantly, SoA had a great story arc with exploration and re-playability.
Any thoughts? Any lead will be greatly appreciated! :)

goonmotw I miss this game so much. It remains, in my opinion, the greatest computer game of all time, for so many reasons. If GOG would get this so I don't have to wrestle through the DRM and memorize a long string of DOS commands through DOSBOX to play, they could just take my money right now.

bpdean I've been digging around the Internet, trying to remember the name of this amazing game and finally wound up here. I spent an enormous number of hours with this one back in the day. If it became available through GOG, it'd be an insta-buy for me as well.
FAWR This is a great game. I think I still have a CD and manual somewhere, but its so hard to get a game this old to run these days.

milgate Still the best computer fantasy wargame I have ever played. Outstanding. I have been wanting an update of this game since it was released in the 1980's. Recruit troops, equip them, train them, see them gain experience. Give each regiment a unique name, send them into battle, replace their losses afterwards. And real-life tactics worked!

silentkiwi Why can't game developers go to great games like this, upgrade the graphics and user interface and sell it! I spent ages mastering this game it was so complex and some battles were epic victories.
apewty I have fond memories of this, although I cannot remember if I had it as a C64 or Amiga title. I would assume the Amiga version looks better for today's tastes, at least compared to the PC version of the day (late 80's). I would buy this game for certain.
NikDanger616 The first computer game I ever owned, and the first strategy game I ever played, I'd love to see this become available. Heck, more SSI games in general would be lovely! This game laid a whupping on me as a ten year old, and I enjoyed every minute of it!
