Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
+1
Favorite one of the series right here, Glad I still have them all on disc but would cherish a complete series here
More of the old Splinter Cell games, please!
Would like to see this on GOG, prefer digital versions.
All versions' singleplayer runs fine and DRM free on Windows 7/8/10/11 *IF* three files are used from the official Ubisoft DRM free 'Splinter Cell Collection' DVD release.
1. Replace the following files in 'offline/system/' with the versions from the official Ubisoft DRM free 'Splinter Cell Collection' DVD release's 'offline/system/' folder
Core.dll
SplinterCell2.exe
Window.dll
2. One of the following fixes for lighting
Jiri Dvorak's D3D8.dll wrapper
OR
DGVoodoo2's D3D8.dll wrapper configured to emulate a 'GeForce 4 Ti 4800' GPU at 256MB
3. Widescreen fix from ThirteenAG
I prefer the DGVoodoo2 approach as that also allows ThirteenAG Widescreen fix to be used without issues.
I really don't understand how did Ubisoft allow for this one to let slip.
I will buy
Ubisoft is a disgrace. They crank out one Assassin's Creed after another, but they don't care to make one of their best games (Pandora Tomorrow) compatible to new systems.
Pls bring this to gog, I have a working build of this game with its multiplayer stripped out.
I can give it to you guys
Looks like someone wrote a wrapper (Fix) for the lighting issues with newer PC's. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3GotXdsQrs&feature=youtu.be
Ubisoft is unwilling to fix the compatibility problems and so they just pulled the game from digital sales.
I trust in the CDP techno-wizards to come up with a solution that Ubi is unwilling to spend money on. Maybe bring the rest of the old (pre-conviction) games along as well?
would be awesome always wanted to play it
@ mikjames
Splinter Cell 1, Chaos Theory and Double Agent are DRM-free in that set, but Pandora Tomorrow requires the DVD-ROM and Conviction requires Uplay.
@ Shahnawaz_Sooba
Pandora Tomorrow maintains a consistent frame rate of 60fps on Windows 10 (Splinter Cell 1 does too and Chaos Theory maintains 100fps).
However GOG needs to adjust that frame rate problem. On modern PCs the game is stuck at 24-25 fps and sometimes drop to 18 fps with nightvision.
I'd like to see this game on here. dgVoodoo, starting with version 2.53, is able to render buffer shadow properly with VRAM set to 256 MB and the video card set to GeForce 4 Ti 4800.
I need it
I just recently bought the Splinter Cell Ultimate Edition that includes Pandora Tomorrow and the other 4 up to Conviction. From what I hear it's Drm free.
Great friggin game, it needs a digital version fast, the PS3 version has a busted framerate from time to time but still has quick saves like the PC version. This can all be forgiven if a PC version was re-released after all these years.
AGREED Please add i was planning on a splinter cell marathon. Almost finished the first game , but PT not on steam i will happily buy here.
There is currently no way for me to play Pandora Tomorrow... Please GOG add this game!!
All these years and still nothing
+1 Would like to see this game in store.
Would be great to have this game available on GOG. The shadow problems got already fixed, but there is no digital version available anywhere ...
cody1638 : What a shame
Hey. Am now playing the original, which was one of my favorite games around the time it came out. I remember I only played the sequel once and would love to do so again. A GOG version with all the necessary fixes already installed would be greatly appreciated.
ubisoft doesnt give a shit.
No news !?
the game breaking shadow bug has already been fixed, maybe ubisoft doesnt give a damn enough to release it digitally. sux having every splinter cell game digitally minus pt
If I could get this nice stealth action in digital HD I would pay a thousand bucks.
pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Tom_Clancy%27s_Splinter_Cell:_Pandora_Tomorrow#Broken_and_missing_shadows
there is is fix for the shadows and light rendering, so no reason not to release it
Sure, bring, this game have fix now, talk to Ubsoft please
Yeah, we need the trilogy on GOG !
Yes, please bring this title to GOG. I'm sure Ubisoft would be willing to strike a deal here, especially if they get more sales out of it. All the fixes available could be incorporated, and this is truly the forgotten gem of the series. Would also be something that you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. add Chaos theory, and the trilogy is complete, before they changed the game play. Double Agent I never continued, because the controls are just ridiculous.
There's a fan mod that fixes most of the issues. The main issue with the shadows was that the shadows were designed for a different version of DirectX than the current ones, so anything past Dx8 I believe will have glitchy shadows. The mod converts the shadow values from the Dx8 version to modern versions, and it's functional enough that I can play through without problems. GOG just needs to incorporate that mod, maybe develop it a bit further, and they can release the game. It's not being sold digitally anywhere so it'd be perfect for GOG to have, especially since they have the first one.
To give an example of the shadow buffering issue: when you need to avoid detection or need to stay out of a spotlight, you cannot see any of the light. Also Pandora Tomorrow was developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, while Ubisoft Montreal developed Splinter Cell and Chaos Theory.
This game is not available on GOG or Steam since the publishers deemed it too buggy. Unfortunately it cannot be easily fixed, as a great part of the graphic engine would need to be rewritten. The original code was compatible with DirectX 8 (2001), but Microsoft made huge changes to the way shaders work in DirectX 9 (2003). And since all newer hardware is backwards compatible only up to Dx9, this issue cannot easily been solved. Luckily there is a 3th party patch (wrapper) that fixes 50% of the issues: www.jiri-dvorak.cz/scellpt/
This would be an ideal one for GOG - a game that, in its current state, is not digitally sold because it requires actual updating to fix.
Please, we really need a verison of this game that actually runs :D
I own all Splinter Cell Games, and all run fine, except for this one, it won't start up :(
would be awesome if you could get this one :)
Sorry to bring up an old thread but apparently this issue has been fixed by the community, www.jiri-dvorak.cz/scellpt/
I can tell you guys this, pretty much all of the lighting that was problematic in this game has been fixed since I played through this game without any sort of lighting issues that I noticed.
The forgotten title of the Splinter Cell series really needs to come to GOG. Due to some problems with the graphics engine Pandora Tomorrow has never been released digitally, so it really needs to come out again. Especially on PC, since that was the only platform that had a save function.
Please, gog you have to bring the original SC trilogy on here; forget about the other ones but Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory a mandatory.
Maybe someone needed to write a wrapper like nGLiDE but for old nVidea / ATI cards? Would that even be possible?
I'm into building retro PCs and Splinter Cell 1 and 2 are great games to justify building one :)
The video cards that will give you the best graphics are Geforce 3, 4 and FX 5 series. XP SP1 is the OS of choice.
For sound (EAX HD) you want an Audigy, Audigy 2, Audigy 4 or X-Fi. Audigy is period correct for the first game, Audigy 2 for the second.
While shadows work on Splinter Cell 1 on new machines (GOG.com version) you must realise and accept that not ALL shadows and effects are rendered.
Only on a system as listed above will you see all the effects. There is no way round it.
In terms of CPU and RAM, a Pentium 4 S478 system and 512 MB (under W98SE) or more will work fine.
Note that the FX 5950 Ultra is the fastest card you can get for this game while getting full graphics. Even that card will struggle at 1600 x 1200, so playing at 1024 x 768 is recommend.
A Geforce 4 is ok, but many areas of the game will be lagging.
everybody talks about the shadow problem in the game being a graphics card issue, I don't believe that is the case entirely. With the copy I own, patched to the latest version, the shadows work in some spots and not in others, as too does the water reflections from the first level (absent at the start but appear normal at the end of that level) and other shader issues. The other thing is, the game appears to only display one type of effect for each location, not multiple effects at one time. If it were a graphics card issue the shadows wouldn't appear at all. That tells me it's a bug in the software more than anything. The software essentially needs to be "told" to display the effects simultaneously and that the graphics card is the required card needed to display the effects with. All cards made these days are still modeled over similar architecture that the G-force FX cards used, not much has changed. Run any other game that had the exact same requirements and they'll be fine, I guarantee it.
JFV... it can't be easily fixed (though yes the first game works). The only way to do it would be to get a really old now graphics card and use old drivers for it. That'd probably also mean using windows xp too. I'm talking radeon 9800 era graphics cards and the generation just after that.
It's more than a Windows 7 problem, it's an all modern graphics cards problem. I've been looking for a fix for the game across several computers and a move from XP to Win7. Something has changed with the drivers or hardware that stops all dynamic lighting in the game being rendered.
As the game is often about standing in shadows, it makes some of the levels at the least no fun and at the most infuriating / impossible (like the moving spotlights section).
Also the lighting problem can be easly fixed, as in Splinter Cell 1, on the internet it's written a thousand times how to do so.
I can't find this game anywhere. I bought the Bundle on Steam, & this is the only one I don't have. I have it for my old xBox, though she died.... Please put this one..... in Multilingual, cause it's possible, I'm shure.
All the others are available for Windows 7. Why not this?
YES.
I would love to play the complete Splinter Cell collection, but I read somewhere that Ubisoft have disowned the first three games in terms of updating them. So I guess voting for this is a little bit of a long shot?
