Sea of Stars
Dawn of Equinox | Update Release Trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk6FYIift0Y
Given the recent news about how Steam has been strongarmed publishers behind the scenes, it would not surprise me if this was the case here as well. Either Valve offered them a ton of money for exclusive PC rights or they're threatening smaller publishers to keep their stuff there.
Please forget about it like the devs forgot about Gog.

New oldschool classic, very appreciated, from the same author(s) of Messenger. Perfect for GOG
Would be such a great weekend to play Sea of Stars. Then again, I'm not sure the devs still deserve my money.

Good but overhyped
Not sure why exactly, probably because of some link with the legendary Chrono Trigger.
Maybe it's a grapes-too-sour situation, but the Steam reviews find two central points of criticism in the characters/story and the combat. Two points that are extremely important to me. So ... yeah. I'll buy it for 14.99 bucks max from GOG.
I love the Messenger! And I really want this one too! Is it just me, or do companies put their games on GOG, until they have a huge hit and then they just put it on Steam? Not cool.
I'm surprised I don't see the game on GoG, considering that The Messenger is.
Very promising game, characters, design, light(!), innovative combat system... but if not on GOG, no buy.
You can still get it on Steam, so they will not get much lesser coins, just a very tiny little bit lesser, because my coins are still in my pocket; i am very sure... even double checked.
Sadly, that hasn't been true for many years now.
Wrong, its THEIR issue if they want lesser coins, not our issue. I am glad i was spending my valuable coins elsewhere.
My GOG thread in the Sabotage Discord channel is now closed (even though nobody posted in there for weeks). We are so fucked.
Your vote is very important to us. Please hold the line. Your vote is very important to us. Please hold the line. Your vote is very important to us. Please hold the line. Your vote is very important to us. Please hold the line.
Just dont buy it if not on GoG. There is near endless of other games to play; i barely got sufficient lifetime playing them all. Besides, the DRM is useless... as long as they do not put something "serious" and very pricy on it (Denuvo or comparable); there is already countless "free sources" available. You can play a free Demo too... so you know what you may have "missed". Its good but not better than countless of real JRPGs... so why to care. They can go home together with their cocky attitude. Never beg, this is useless... just take action and know the price of the stuff worth it to you. Maybe in 1-2 years there is a release, who knows...
I hope this one day comes to gog, I loathe steam, I wish more games were on gog.
It will come to Switch soon as a retail with the same price comparable to some AAA-franchises... this GoG is not worthy of their time...
the game is fantastic. get it soon please
A month has passed since the game was released, over a 1000 votes on the wishlist, and here we are, still, without the GOG release. As a GOG only user, here's what hurts the most. Before releasing The Messenger Sabotage Studio was nothing. Just another brand new company out there trying to prove themselves with a brand new game. So naturally they attempted to release their game on as many platforms as possible, GOG included. GOG was good enough for them then. Some months/years have passed and they've made it big with their first game. With their second one they've even used Kickstarter and amassed over 1,5M CA$. So naturally, they should use the same tested platforms as before, right? Wrong! Apparently the number of users who want a DRM free version of the game is not yet satisfactory. Now GOG is not good enough for them. What happened to just releasing the game on as many platforms as possible so that users who don't use certain platforms also have a chance to buy it? Where's the appreciation for customer's loyalty? Apparently we GOG users are nothing to them. Just a not yet significant number. Sure, a 1000 new buys is not the 250000 copies that have already been sold, but still, it's something. Also releasing the game on GOG will show people that you're a company that likes making games for everyone, and not just for PROFIT! PROFIT! PROFIT! So why is the game not on GOG yet? I really don't know. There's simply no valid reason not to release it (unless some sort of PC exclusivity deal is in place).
plz gog.

Just an FYI, if you want this game on GOG, send them an e-mail, ask them on discord or twitter, you know, make some noise. I doubt they'll ever see this wishlist. I sent them an e-mail and they said no plans at the moment, but they are monitoring demand.

Oh crud... I voted for this because I thought it was the following:
www.infinitespacegames.com/seaofstars/
Yeah the game looks amazing, but not so amazing that I won't wait until it either hits a 75% discount on Steam or releases on GoG. I already have more games than I can play in a lifetime. Hell, there's more free games out there than anyone can play in 100 years.
So I'll buy it on my terms or not at all.
I've been through all this with Return to Monkey Island, but I guess that in that case, Disney had final say. Here, we have the Annapurna/Stray situation. The game was just too much of a hit. So Steam will suffice for now. But if Steam gets all the AAA stuff and the indie pearls way before GOG, we don't need to talk about what happens to GOG. Valve has had this monopoly for far, far too long. To get the market back, Valve needs to be smashed.
Here' what hurts the most.

Some months/years have passed and they've made it big with their first hit. With their second one they've even used Kickstarter and amassed CA$ 1,628,126. So naturally, they should use the same tested platforms as before, right? Wrong! Apparently the number of users who want a DRM free version of the game is not yet satisfactory, but they are "indeed keeping track of demand and wishlist numbers for the platforms that aren't currently covered". Now GOG is not good enough for them.
What happened to just releasing the game on as many platforms as posssible so that users who don't use certain platforms also have chance to buy it? Where's the appreciation for customer's loyalty?
Apparently we GOG users are nothing to them. Just an insignificant number.
What now, still no GOG release? Get a move on!
I'm a backer. I would absolutely double dip if it comes out on GOG as well.
They made more than twice the amount of cash on kickstarters compared to Everspace 2; they are "another league", so this platform is not worthy of their time... they will now rule the gaming world and soon become that famous comparable to Supergiant. The bunch of people who was backing and not getting their version they want, they can ask for having their coins back, no problem. Soon the flood of coins will be exceeding this 1 million+ anyway and reach a territory never seen on a game even better than Chrono Trigger... it is simply THE TRIGGER. Go buy a coffee with the few coins you get back from the back of backers... i do suggest, the good vine is left for those truly able to get the job done.
The Messenger was amazing. I will buy this if it comes to GOG. I will not but it if it does not.
It looks great, I own The Messenger and I trust the team to deliver a great product, however, I am not going to buy it unless it becomes DRM free.
I'll wait for a GOG release, in the meantime I have other games to play, and other games to buy here.
That's sad news. I myself am not a backer because I have just now learned of its existence. Had I been a backer I too would have been angry at the broken promises.
From what I've heard of the game I'm really looking forward to buy it. But I refuse to buy it anywhere else but GoG. Even if it takes years to come.
Sorry, that was the final message. Here is Phillip's original to my inquiry:
"The game won't be on GOG for now.
Sorry about the miscommunication, it has been part of the plans early on, but I shouldn't have confirmed it.
We can refund you, no problem"
Personally, I see no technical reason for this which is why I'm thinking there was some deal with Steam. I could be wrong. They can disprove or verify by lack of action. Either way, a great game by a company that treats promises the way politicians do, ugh.
Folks, you are not going to like this: The issues with with the developers: I did a kickstarter pledge with assurance that I would be able to get a gog.com key when it was released. Here was my response to my inquiry on that 2 days ago:
"We don't have an ETA for now. We totally understand how frustrating the situation is, and it is 100% my bad.
Just let me know of your backer email and we will refund you."
Basically, they took my money, then they decided to leave out gog. No has said it but it feels like some weird deal with Steam. (Exclusive?). Perhaps I'm over interpreting because I feel mislead since they didn't address until after the game's release and they got their funding but it leaves a bad taste. I imagine for all of us.
please a Gog release
I would like to buy the game on GOG. Otherwise I'll play it on GamePass but I won't buy the game.
Hope it comes on GOG, looks like an amazing jrpg.
I need this game to be on GOG I refuse to buy games on steam.
I need it.
gimme, gimme, gimme please.
I'd buy it if it came here.
Would love to see Sea Of Stars here. DRM free is part of the nostalgia!
I'd totally buy it here on GoG! Make it happen pleeez GoG!
Would really love to see this game on GoG!
But time is ticking, if it doesnt show up _really_ soon I (and alot of other people) will be forced to buy it on Steam =/
Folks I was told "No Problem" by Philip at Sabotage Software regarding a gog verison so there is a written promise back in 2020. Hopefully you make it easy for them as the reviews are VERY promising and I have a printed assurance on Kickstarter messaging to that effect. Thanks!
If the Game will not be released in the Gog store in the near future I will buy it in the Steam store: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1244090/Sea_of_Stars/. The Game is too Awesome and Gorgeous to wait a couple of years till it will be released in the Gog store.
