Martian Gothic: Unification
Very cool game, amazing atmosphere, great soundtrack (although I read somewhere that the PC version has a different soundtrack than the PS1 version, and I played on PS1). Controlling three characters at the same time, who help each other to progress through the story, interesting puzzles, oppressive atmosphere of a dead planet... :) I really wanted to play this game again and see it in my collection!
100%
Randomly saw this as a wishlist item on here. Yes please! This game is pretty much abandonware like Accursed Farms said. May as well port it on GoG and just make it run like you guys did with Soul Reaver. There were some anti-aliasing problems and a couple of bugs that would need to be fixed though... maybe even a control tweak? All in all, this diamond in the rough would be great to replay again without fear of catching some malware along with it.
I have the Playstation version of this game. Since 2001 Christmas. Still play it today on epsxe (PC playstation emulator). The Pc version I have not played. Steam or GOG would be nice to LEGALLY own the PC version of the Game. Take2 or Rockstar own the publishing rights to this game???
I've never heard of this and I love the RE series. This would be a blast.
Hi. +1
Would love for this to be on GOG, I play it a couple times per year and it's still good, even found out thanks to a few users how to access the source files for everything got all the textures, sounds and music.
Gra ma niesamowity filmowy klimat horroru i sci-fi. Naprawdę chciałbym to zobaczyć z podrasowaną grafiką i kilkoma usprawnieniami rozgrywki. Gra definitywnie powinna pojawić się na GOG!
After having heard of this game from watching the Super Best Friends play it during one of their Shitstorm of Scariness episodes, I've been really wanting to try it out. I'm not even sure I care that the controls may be as clunky as many have said, I just really want to try this game. The story and setting seem simultaneously cliche and unique. I love the surprising amount of brilliant yet awkwardly stilted voiced dialog. I really hope CD Projekt can bring this to their platform.
This game already has patches and Peixoto's fixes available, that makes it fully playable even on Win10 x64. Modern controllers work too. Only if we could have some reverse engineering to fix a bunch of the issues with collisions and enemy hitboxes etc.
Game would definitelty need remake/reimagination however, the plot and setting is there, but the execution was simply terrible. Creative Reality seemed to be a very small, like 10 person team and they propably had to make this within super limited budget for 5-6 years.
There's basically these things to fix in this game:
- Enemies respawn endlessly, and get up faster and are more stronger progressively, to the point where shooting them becomes annoying as hell.
- Enemy hitboxes are way too big and go around them completely, meaning that if you walk behind them, they can grab you.
- Enemies are way too fast with their grabbing animations, there's no frames to get past them in those corridors.
- Character movement while standing still is not analog (like in RE-games), it's script based, meaning that if you quickly press left/right, it turns 90-degrees automatically. This is major issue when you would have to evade quickly from tough spots, you basically have to get the character moving first in order to gain that analog movement with turning.
absolutely. one of the toughest , and not in a clunky resident evil 1 controls, but just really gratifying to solve each situation. i couldnt remember the name because it is an awful choice . it does cover the subject. template for everything space horror that came after.
If this comes available, it is an instand buy. Searched like crazy in the abandoned base. Played it simultaniously with a friend. Spend hours on this on a 80486 IBM PC. Good old days.
Hey guys, out of curiousity, just say if there was a remake to maybe one day surface, what would you like to have on the remake? here are some ideas I thought of what should be in the remake:
* Name of the game should be Martian Gothic Remake
* Get to see a prologue i.e. the pandora's box being opened or Earth control being founded by Allenby and him buying Nasa aswell as Martin Karne meeting with him to discuss mission to mars + show how Diane and Kenzo get selected?
* Should it have a modern resident evil remake gameplay style or a different preference?
* Make the trimorphs improved from the PS1 or remake them completely + pursuit and searching for you + auto switch to 1st person view see 2 heads of trimorph gouging your belly while the other head slowly goes for you and screen goes black?
* Queen mab wakens to pursue after placing explosives by volcano instead of 'comes and goes like a ghost'
* Switch in mood personality or the snobby mood
* audiologs will have cutscenes of recordee's last moments
* new firearms to be added?? There's the picollo, dillinger, nailgun, diabolus, flare gun and the psyinara (Anyone want to see an improved psyinara and as a 2 handed weapon?)
* Improvements to the puzzles or leave it the same way?
These are so far the things I can come up with I feel could be improved. Do you think anything can be added??
Such great, but unapreciated game. One of the best in space horror genre, right behind Alien. I bet most people at GOG don't even know it exists
To start, this game could use a re-release on GOG. But ultimately, I would like a more enriched, more balanced remake of this game. I know it wasn't a lofty project back in its day but it had a fairly solid foundation for a great horror game, mired by disjointed (and underfunded) production and being released for long-outdated hardware (the PSOne). Call it fanfiction, but I wrote an in-depth roadmap of how a remake would go down long ago, and to this day I'd still do anything to have my vision see the light of day. For starters, it would have a (comparatively) robust lighting system to really flesh out the presentation. Oh and the setting would be fleshed out quite a bit, including the Valles Marineris, an underwater (and frozen) aquifer which would be influenced by Total Recall, and additional base sectors.
I have the original(which, of course does not run on modern OSes.) so I am also wanting this. just thought about it as I found my old CD in a pile of boxes.
One of those underrated games. Well it hasnt aged well but i never forget the playsessions in a dark room. And even if this Game was quite hard, the rush after solving a near impossible situation (An getting to a savepoint after it ;) ) was quite rewarding. Would be a nice Horror Movie.
whoaaaaa, if I'm corret I played it because it was free with a game magazine. I don't remember if it was great or not, but surely it will be fun to play it again and remember that old time!
I played the PlayStation version and would love to see this underrated game on GOG.
I would love to play this game again. Way more fun then Resident Evil, in my opinion.
Please, whoever owns the rights for this, please re-release this on PC for more people to get their hands on. Might be an obtuse game a lot of the time if you don't pay a lot of attention, but it would be great to try to play again on PC.
A friend of mine bought this years ago. I would love to see this on here.
this game is a game from my youth. My father used to play it and i watched. I was terrified! it is hard as nails but we beat it. it was so unique and it became really tense. I would love to play it again.
Loved this game but I remember it being quite hard. Today's release of Waking Mars reminded me of this, I might still have it hidden away somewhere but it didn't seem to read the Xplosiv range disc properly.
This game just HAS to be here. It's very sad to see how Dead Space gets all the fame and fortune, while in terms of storyline, setting and even some of the game mechanics it's literally just a carbon copy of Martian Gothic with fancy graphics.
Totally agree on this one being insanely hard. Would like to give it another try. It seemed quite promising as far as I got into it.
I have this game. I found it super hard and never got into it. I'd wouldn't mind seeing it here, if only for the threads about tactics and how to beat it :P
